Deadline for contest entries will be Tuesday, and yells may be sub mitted by placing them in boxes in the Student Union and the Co op. Any ideas for presenting the new yells will also be welcome, Jean Gould, rally board secretary, said. Field of the United Htati s Waves will conduct inter views for senior women interested in the regular navy as a career from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today in the lobby of the Student Union. According to Lt. Field, plans are being made for women to take part in active duty with the naval reserve. She will explain the pro gram and the basic training pro gram to any interested women. To be eligible to apply for train ing and a commission as an officer in the regular navy, a woman must be a college graduate or be in her senior year and expect to graduate. Women who are appointed re ceive commissions as line ensigns and will begin their careers in the General Line School at Newport, H I. The indoctrination course lasts five months and upon completion women become junior officers and are sent to duty. Lt. Field may be contacted at Carson Hall, when- she is staying, by anyone who cannot see her dur ing the above hours. Registration Urged Orientation Committee Graduating seniors who have not already done so, are urged by the graduate placement office to regis ter with them as soon as possible. According to the placement di rector, Karl W. Onlhank, students who might possibly need help in finding a job later should register. He reported that men who think they might be drafted should also register, since they will be able to receive help when they return from the service. Gf Atom Plant Hires 4 Students Four University students have been hired by the General Klectric Company to work at the atomic ; energy plant in Hanford, Wash. ' They are Edward A. Boyne Jr., i graduate student in physics; Kieh a rd Da hi berg, Cerald Owsley, and David Mannings, all seniors in chemistry. Also obtaining jons ior next year are Sam Adler, graduate assistant in physics, who has accepted a po sition with the Dow Chemical Com pany, and Dwight Berrernan, also a graduate assistant in physics, who has accepted a graduate as sist antship at California institute of Technology. Petitions Due— Alpha I’hi Omega, national ser vice fraternity, is calling for peti tions for pledgeship. Petitions have been sent around to all living organizations and others may be obtained from Jim McAlear, 1436 Alder, Petitions are due Tuesday after noon and may be turned in to Mc Alear, An open meeting will be held at 7 p.rn. Tuesday night in the Student Union for those who have turned in petitions and any one else who might be interested.
