The student in the picture is typical of the many hundreds of stu
dents in Assam who are seeking to find the way to continue their
education. Inside his tent this student lias room, although not
enough to stretch. Perhaps we should -ay he is lucky for he is
one of the few who is aide to continue with his college education.

Imagine spending your school year in a tent, studying with im
proper lighting, studying without adequate resource material. >a
studying on an empty stomach, 'i et these are the lucky one
Many more would like to have the opportunity to do just that for
they realize the value of an education.
In other parts of India, today students are cutting their slim
food budget of rice and gra\y twice a day so that they can end
funds and supplies to their fellow students in A-'am. t utling
down on their already meager diet is no small sacrifice. I hey »arc
enough to help.
Turing for a moment to the situation at the Heidelberg, Uni
versity, where oftt of a student body of 3000, 630 are refugees w ho
have fled from the Hast Zone, Prussia, or other critical sections.
Three hundred students receive a free meal a day, twice as many
need it. Yet this year these same students will hold a drive to - end
funds to students who have more pressing needs than the\ They
care enough to help.
We say that the students of today will be the leaders of to
morrow but so few of us realize how soon tomorrow is for students
in India. A 25 year old man was elected president oi the national
council in India. Only 25—yet a leader already.
It is a world of peace and understanding that we are seeking to
find, and education is the chief way to it. Through World Student
Service Fund we can help to build this world <>f cooperation and
understanding. WE CARE ENOUGH TO HELP.
