Religious Study To be Subject Of 7 Seminars Two six-week seminars on the study of religion will be sponsored this term by Wesley House and Westminster Foundation. Registration for the seminars will begin today at Wesley, West minster, or the Student Union. The first, ‘•Foundations of Our Culture," will be taught by N. P. Jacobson, head of the department of religion. First meeting of the seminar will be held at 4 p.m. to day in the Student Union. “The Role of tne Church in Con temporary ^Society,” will be the subject of the second seminar which will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thurs days in the Student Union begin ning this week. Six different lec turers will conduct the seminar alternately. This week “The Historical Role" will be discussed by Quirinus Breen, professor of history and social science. Other subjects and speakers will be “Judaism,” by Rabbi E. Charles Sydney of Portland; “Catholicism,” by Father Leo Linehan Chaplain of Newman Club, Eugene; “Protest antism," by the Rev. Berlyn Far ris, of the First Methodist Church, Eugene; “Small Sects in America,” by Dr. Carrol Roberts, of the First Christian Church, Eugene; and “The Church in the Future,” by Dr. Wesley G. Nicholson, of the First Congregational Church, Eu gene. Only Crook, Deschutes, Harney, Lincoln, Tillamook, and Wallowa counties had Democratic County Judges during 1949-50. Philosophy Night Class Good for Phi 201 Credit Seminar on Critical Thinking Phi 407-507, now being tnught in the spring term extension program, may be counted as credit in place of the department of philosophy's Phi 201, according to Howard Akers, head of the correspondence study of the extension division. The class, which is taught by Arthur Pap, assistant professor of j philosophy, meets from 7 p.m. to j 9:45 p.m. every Thursday in 203 j Chapman.
