Alley Oop Theme to FollowTraditon
At Annual WAA Fun House Friday
“Slowboat to Slohbovia,” "Coney
Inland,” an.I “Alley of Oopdec- j
Doo” are the three unusual themes!
on which the WAA have based;
their annual carnival for the past;
three years. This year’s inspiration
for the general theme of “Alley of
Oopdec-Doo” was obtained from j
the comic of Alley Oop and the
hit song of “Whoopdce Doo.” Con-1
trary to previous years, this year's
event was designated as a Kun
house because it was felt that repi
tition of past years’ themes could
be more easily avoided.
In 1948 the theme of “Slowboat!
to Slobbovia” with the aid of the '
presence of Lena the Hyena and
I' rankenstien helped to procure the1
¥fiiO profit whic htbe carnival'
$*>70 profit which the carnival
which advertised to "Take a Slow ,
Turtle Ride" received much of the i
evening's business while the booth :
of dunking girls was very popular:
also, in 1950 the “Coney Island”j
them was publicized before-hand I
by serenaders who went to living:
organizations with ukeWes and
amply advertised it.
This year the event will be held j
in the unfinished section of the ■
men’s PK building immediately fol- i
lowing Friday night's basketball
game. Students are urged to bring!
their fathers also if they are on!
eampus for Dads' Weekend.

Willamette Park will be closed
indefinitely after the regular Sat
urday evening dance this week,
Tom Barry, student manager, an-j
nounced Tuesday.
Barry urged students to attend
the closing performance at the
Park, where Floyd Leavitt and his
orchestra will play for dancers. 1
Financial conditions were cited
by Barry as a major reason for
closing the dancing spot. Barry
also indicated that a recent “shift
in student interests" had much to
do with the closure.
