1’i Kappa Alpha won over Siifma Phi Kpsilon, 2S-22, Nestor
trounced Merrick, 31-13. Campbell Club beat the Jumping Jets.
24-13, Minturn walloped Phi Sigma Kappa, 25-10. Theta Chi won
over Tau Kappa Kpsilon. 23-14 and in the only close game of the
afternoon Siirma Chi eclued out Beta Theta Pi. 13-12.

House won WAA basketball games
over Hendricks Hall and Delta
Gamma, respectively, Tuesday

University took an early lead in
their game, and was never headed,

ing up in the last quarter, holding
University scoreless while scoring

one quarter, due to lack of time.

Phi Sigma Kappa as they rolled on

Chiefly through the backboard
work of Emery Barnes, the Min
turns rolled up a 10-3 lead in the
first half and then coasted to their
final margin of victory. Barnes was
high point man for the winners
: with 8 counters while Thorn hemp
! cd five for the Phi Sigs.
Outscored in Second Half
Pi Kappa Alpha rolled up a com
j fortable halftime lead over Sigma
[ Phi Epsilon and then were out
scored in the second half. After
leading 17-9 at intermission, the Pi
Kaps seemed to let down their de
fense in the final two periods as
the Sig Eps outscored them 13-11.
The eight point halftime deficit
was too much for the losers to over
come however and Pi Kappa Alpha
won 28-22. Sam Nicolopulos paced
the Pi Kaps with eight points. The
scoring leader for Sigma Phi Epsi
lon was Bowman with seven.
The most lopsided score of the
afternoon was rolled up by Nestor
hall as they down Merrick 31-13.
The adept ball handling of Art
Shepherd was the guiding light for
Nestor as they roared to an inter
mission lead of 16-7. Johnson rack
ed up eight points to pace the win
ners.
Campbell Club Romps
Campbell Club romped to a 24-13
victory over the Jumping Jets af
ter being held to a 9-9 deadlock in
the first half. The winners put up an
inpenetrable defense in the third
period as they racked up a 16-9
lead.
The Jets finally found the scor
ing range in the final Quarter as
they caged a pair of field goals but
Campbell Club rolled on to their
final lead. Jim Dysinger cashed in
with 12 counter to pace Campbell
Club while Favoll dropped in eight
for the Jumping Jets.
Theta Chi rolled over Tan Kappa
Epsilon 23-14 in another one-sided
contest. This game was fairly close
in the first half which ended with
Theta Chi in the lead 12-6.
Big Guns
The big guns for the winners,
Jerry Hendren and Bill Korpela,
opened up in the second half how
ever, and the Tekes fell far behind
at the final whistle. Hendren and
Korpela divided honors for Theta
Chi with eight points. Van Voorhis
dropped in 4 to lead the Tekes.
The contest between Sigma Chi
and Beta Theta Pi looked more like
a football scrimmage than basket
ball contest. Both teams were dead
locked in the first half. 5-3 but the
Sigma Chis edged out a 13-12 vic
tory. Quarterback Earl Setlle lob
bed in six points to lead the Sigma
Chis while Chapman scored four to
lead the Betas.
In intramural handball, Sigma
Chi won two single matches over
Phi Gamma Delta but lost the dou
bles match.

Goes to Lung
At Banquet
The Hoffman award, presented
annually to the outstanding- 9enior
on Oregon’s football earn, went to
Ray Lung, three-year letter man
guard for the 1950 season, an all
around lineman who stood out es
pecially on defense.
Lung, who was a standout for the
West team in their victory over the
East in the Shrine All-star game,
said that the honor meant more to
him “than playing in the Shrine
football game” when presented the

gon letterman and sponsor of the
award at the annual gridiron ban

Squad Vote Elects Lung
Lung was scelected by vote of
the members of the football squad.
All seniors received wrist watches.
The other seniors were: Bob Ander
son, end and tackle; Bob Carey,
halfback; Jack Countryman, de
fensive halfback; Hal Cuff el, half
back; Chet Daniels, guard.
Dave Gibson, center; Larry Hull,
guard; Gus Kniekrehm, tackle; J.
C. McCowan, end; Keith Moore,
fullback; Dick Salter, end; and Earl
Stelle, quarterback.

Lung was the winner of the
award which began in 1939 when
halfback Bob Smith won and which
was won by Woodley Lewis, now a
defensive back for the Los Angeles
Rams, in 1949.

Bowl IM Wins
Gamma Hall bowled over Sigma
Phi Epsilon, 4-0, in intramural
bowling Tuesday night, paced by
Pete Darlington's high 567 series
and Sanford Mio'a 504 series. Dar
lington also bowled high game
scores of 195 and 193.
Pi Kappa Alpha look a 3-1 de
cision from Stan Ray Hall. Stan
Ray’s Dick Graham rolled a 493 se
ries, while the Pi Kap’s Sam Nicol
opulos fashioned a series score of
484.
In other intramural bowling lea
gue play Campbell Club split with
Lambda Chi Alpha and Kappa Sig
ma did likewise with Barrister Inn.
The Kappa Sigs' Gureth Donlon
bowled a high 195 game.
