Morfena Sasnett Exibits Poise,
Talent as Profession Speaker

Poised, beautiful, a former pro
fessional monologuist and a mem
ber of the University of Southern
California faculty—Mrs. Martena
Tenney Sasnett, here for Religious
Emphasis week, has combined all
of her talents to be one of the out
standing speakers brought to the
Oregon campus by the Religion in
Education Foundation of Los An
geles.
Before her marriage to J. Ran
dolph Sasnett, executive director
of the RIE Foundation, Mrs. Sas
nett was a professional monodra
matist. For her brilliant- career in
solo dramas, she is listed in
“American Women,” “Who’s Who
on the Pacific Coast,” and is the
only American monologuist in the
International Blue Book.
Mrs. Sasnett is particularly in
terested in the speech and drama
phase of Religious Emphasis week,
and personal interviews with her
may be arranged by signing in the
Special Events room of the SU.
She is interested in all phases of
drama from teaching to Holly
wood acting.
Along with her speech and
drama work, Mrs. Sasnett has par
ticipated in informal discussions
in the fields of personality, wom
an’s role, and marriage and the
home. She and Dr. Sasnett are
conducting the “Marriage Tomor
row” series of Religious Emphasis
week. She is also scheduled to
speak at the Carson Hall dinner
fireside program.

At present Mrs. Sasnett is for
eign student assistant at USC. Her
article “Foreign Student Problems
on American Campuses” was pub
lished in the October issue of “Col
lege and University.”
Onthank Goins
Treasury Post
Word has been received of the
election of Karl W. Onthank, grad
uate placement director, as trea
surer of- the Western Placement
and Recruitment association.
Onthank returned to the campus
Monday after a month-long trip
that took him to Hawaii and South
ern California.
The association, designed to pro
mote further co-operation between
school placement services and the
employer, had its inaugural meet
ing in Los Angeles. While there,
Onthank served on the constitu
tion committee and participated
in a discussion entitled "Public
Relations and Personnel Work for
Schools and Industry.”
During his trip to Hawaii, On
thank contacted alumni and pro
cured'job placement information.
According to him, job possibili
ties were best in the fields of
science and technology, with a few
openings in managerial work and
labor relations.

, JIFC Elects Paulus Term President
I Bill Paulus, Phi Kappa Psi
pledge, was elected president of
the Junior Inter-Fraternity coun
cil Tuesday evening.
Paulus, a sophomore in business
administration, succeeds DeWayne
Bills who served as president of
the JIFC fall term.
Other officers selected by the
junior fraternity organization were
Jack Adair,Delta Tau Delta, first
vice-president; Dick Othus, Sigma
Alpha Epsilon, second vice-presi
dent; Fred Baltz, Phi Sigma Kap
pa, secretary; and Bob Jones,
Theta Chi, treasurer.
The election of a slate of five
officers followed the adoption by
the group of a re-organization plan
aimed at the spreading responsi
bility. The new plan increased the
number of officers to five through
the addition of a second vice-presi
dent and the division of the form
erly combined job of secretary and
treasurer.

Plans were announced for a fea
tured spot Thursday on the Don
