Deadline Nears
For Blood Drive
As Plans Form
Plans for the University of Ore
gon blood donation drive Jan. 22
began to crystallize Monday as
the deadline nears for turning in
pledge cards and parental releases.
While the blood donation drive
is open to all persons who are at
least 18 years of age but who have
not yet reached 60, those under 21
(except married women) must
turn in parental releases filled
out and signed by their parents.
For those who have not done so,
the release is again printed in this
issue of the Emerald on this page.
The releases must be turned in
with' the pledge cards, if possible.
Both should be given to house
presidents, who must turn them
in to Herb Nill at Theta Chi, for
the men, or to Leslie Tooze at
Kappa Alpha Theta, for the wom
en, before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Drop Them In A Box
Off-campus students who have
not obtained their pledge cards
can do so at the Student Union or
at the Co-op. These and the sign
ed releases for those under 21
should be dropped in a box at one
of those two places before 5 p.m.
Wednesday.
Students are reminded that any
one who has had infectious jaun
dice within the past year or has
been inoculated for typhoid or vac

should not sign up as they cannot
be accepted.
The quota set for the University
is 350 pints of whole blood for
wounded men in Korea. In order to
meet this quota, 425 appointments
is the goal set to be made, to take
care of possible rejections and
failures to keep appointments. Don
ors are asked to keep their ap
pointments to enable the drive to
meet the 350-pint quota.
In the event that an appoint
ment conflicts with a class, the
donor is asked to check with the
Office of Student Affairs to make
necessary arrangements to enable
the donor to keep his appointment.
Appointment cards will be neces
