Architects Host
To Conference
The school of architecture and
allied arts will be host to a North
west Regional Conference sponsor
ed by the American Institute of
Architects Feb. 16.
Dean Sidney W. Little of the
school of architecture and allied
arts, regional director for the AIA
and a member of the survey com
mission, is planning the confer
ence which will be held in con
nection with a survey concerning
the education necessary for the
practice of architecture.
Attending the conference will
be numerous practicing architects
who will supply the information
demanded by the survey as well
as many distinguished individuals
not members of the profession. Dr.
Edwin Burdell, director of Cooper
Union in New York City, will be
the chairman of the conference.
Ralph Walker, president of AIA
will also attend.
A Canadian boy won a cake
baking contest against 10 girls.
Doubtless, he knew they were com

Newmans to Hold
Initial Discussion
A special Newman Club discus
sion group will hold its first meet
ing of the term from 7 to 8:30
p.m. tonight in the Student Union.
The program is under the di
rection of Lou Geiselmann, gradu
ate student in philosophy, who will
base the discussions on Father
Conway’s “The Question Box.”
Designed to meet the needs of
Catholic students who wish to
learn more about their religion, the
discussion group meeting is being
planned as a weekly event.
As soon as a political campaign
is over it’s no longer sporting to
call a man a horse thief.
W.A.A. Carnival
Petitions Due
Petitions for positions on Wom
en’s Athletic Association carnival
committees are due at 5 p.m. Wed
nesday, according to President
Bonnie Gienger.
She said all University women
interested in working on the an
nual carnival should submit peti
tions to her at Hendricks Hall or
to Vice-president Phyllis Rich at
Rebec House.
The carnival is scheduled for
Feb. 16.
Positions open arc co-chairmen
and chairmen of committees on de
coration, finance, food, publicity
and promotion, cleanup, and booths.
Co-chairmen of the entire carni
val will be chosen Wednesday night
by the executive committee of the
WAA council. The co-chairmen
will choose their committee heads,
and all petitioners will be used on
the committees, Miss Gienger ex
plained.
House Librarians Meet
For Business Today
House librarians will hold a
business meeting at 4 p.m. today
in the browsing room of the Stu
dent Union, according to Secre
tary Katherine Black.
Committees will be appointed,
and fees will be collected for the
Oregana.
