All of the Dee Gee’s are justly
proud of pledge Lyn Hartley who
recently was chosen the Sweet
heart of Sigma Chi.
Three additions to the recently
pinned column are Jacque Kurtz
to Beta Ray Lung, Kay Wood to
' Theta Chi Fred Scoggin, and
Mary Ijams to Theta Chi Bill
Gregg.
The Eugene Alumnae entertain
ed last week for the pledges and
Mrs. Joseph Ryan, the new house
mother, at the home of Mrs. Wil
liam Russel.
Enjoyed by all at the Dee Gee
house this year is exchange stu
dent Jaka Thordardottir from Ice
land. She is the sister-in-law of
Hildur, who stayed with them last
year.
At University House. . .
Recent engagements Include Jo
Zimmerman to Jim Wolters of Phi
Kappa Psi and Betty Wasson to
Earl Hockema of Coquille.
f Tubbings and short-sheeted beds
'were included in the aftermath of
an annual party presented by the
new members of the house for the
old.
The Co-op Alumni Association
held their annual homecoming din
ner and meeting at University
House Saturday night.
Mary Peterson was recently
pledged to Phi Beta, music and
speech honorary.
At Phi Delt...
Junior Representative on the
executive council this year is Dave
Rodway. Don Peterson was tapped
for Friars during the Homecoming
dance intermission.
Newly pledged this fall were
Thomas Thorpe, Raymond John
son, James Loscutoff, and Eldon
Urbigkeit.
George Rasmussen, ex-Duclc
pole-vaulter, has been competing
in Africa this fall with an Ameri
"can all-star track team. He plans
to return to school this winter.
Initiated on Oct. 15 were David
Alexander, Bill Landers, Daryle
Nelson, and Thomas Paulus.
Leaving soon for the service is
Bill Moore who recently passed
his Navy physical.

Two engagements announced at
the Zeta House were those of
‘Dorothy Smeed to Dick Cramer
and Bee Jae Meade to Bob Jones.
At Phi Kap. ..
Oregon Phi leaps had the op
portunity to meet Phi Kap Arthur
Langlie, governor of Washington,
during their stay at the “Skull
House" chapter in Seattle this
weekend.
The Phi Kap football team roll
ed over the TKE's 9-0 last week
to win the annual Teke-Phi Kap
football trophy.
At Theta Chi...
Hal Simmons has a new nick
name around the house. It seems
.the first-string defensive tackle
was told by his draft board his
feet couldn’t stand the rigors of
army life, and hence, the nick
name 4-F was initiated.
New pledges include: Cy New
man. ex-Vanport "Joe College,"
and Cliff Tyler, also from Van
port.
At S A M. . .
A wonderful weekend was had
by all of the Sammies who travel
ed to their Washington chapter
for the recent football game. High
light of the weekend was the chap
ter dance held at the New Wash
ington Hotel.
Ken Goodman pinned Joan
Hirsch of Carson Hall.
Bob Rubenstein is the new sec
retary of Alpha Delta Sigma, na
tional advertising honorary.
This year’s president of Sigma
Delta Chi, national journalism
honorary is Tom King. Tom is al
so a member of Friars, senior men’s
honorary. Stan Steinberg was
elected secretary of Beta Alpha
Sigma, national honorary for men’s
accounting.
