The award was made at the radio awards presentation banquet, Wednesday night at the Anchorage. Les Ready, KUGN program manager, is shown pre senting the trophy. Four other University radio students also received trophies Wednesday night, presented by Eugene radio stations. The Richfield Reporter sponsored the outstanding achievement award. Janet Harris received the KORE trophy for the outstanding female radio performer; Bob Roberts was awarded the KERG trophy for the outstanding male performer; Jack Vaughn received the KASH trophy for the leading radio writer; and Terrance Roseen was awarded the KUGN trophy for outstanding radio production. Dick Hardie received a $100 scholarship as the outstanding junior in University radio. The scholarship was presented by the Oregon State Broadcasters’ Associ ation.—(Photo by Art French.) Seniors Awarded Spanish Prizes Henrietta Richter, senior in for eign languages, was awarded the John Watson Vogan Spanish Es say Prize at the annual initiation of Sigma Delta Pi, national Span ish honor fraternity, Sunday. Sigma Delta Pi book awards went to Nan Humphrey Adams, first, and Harry Sorensen, second. Both are seniors in foreign lang uages. Students initiated into Sigma Delta Pi were Robert Bunnage, Patricia Springer, Margaret Blago, Clara Jane Browning, Irene Long, Barbara Rinard, Mary Fran Lor ain, Henrietta Richter, Frances Brcoks, Barbara Fisk, John Snow, Charity Williams, Dolores Benitez, Joan Manning, Janet Bronson, Robert Mathis, Roberta Tussing, and Kenneth Ford. Bernardo Gicovate, professor of romance languages, and William Myer, instructor in romance lang uages, were initiated as honorary members. Last Day for Signing With Air Force Team Today is the last day an Air Force procurement team seeking men for officer training will be on the campus. With headquarters in the ROTC building, Capt. R. C. Wilson and Lt. L. W. Hightower are seeking men with two years of college for pilot and navigator training programs and Officers’ Candidate School. The recruiters reported one def inite and several prospective can didates for the training programs Thursday. Men who qualify will serve as ac tive officers for three years after their training is completed. Those who do not qualify will be returned to civilian life. Fall Rushing Planned Women’s fa.ll term rushing will begin Thursday, Sept. 21, and end with preference Sunday Sept. 24, Joan White, Fan’iellenic president, has announced. There will be afternoon and even ing dates. The present schedule was made in order to avoid conflict with dormitory activities, Miss White said.
