Orchesis Dance Program
To Feature Solo Numbers
Four solo dances are on the 13
number program for Orchesis’
annual modern dance concert, to
be held in the University Theater
Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Judie Strain, Joyce Everson, and
Beverly Bennett will perform in
dances worked around the theme
“Women of The States,’’ stressing
action and emotions of the women
in the history of the United States.
Frontiers
“To The West,” by Miss Strain,
depicts the call of the frontiers as
opposed to the pull of memories of
established homes. Miss Strain at
tempts to communicate to the aud
ience the visits of the plains, the
toils of pushing back the frontier,
and the loving acceptance of mak
ing a new life in a new land.
“The* Sheltered Lady,” choreo
graphed and danced by Miss Ever
son, includes three different move
ments, prayer, lullaby, and minuet.
Writes Two Numbers
Miss Bennett has composed two
numbers. Her first is “The Extre
mist,” which adds comedy to the
program by showing the flapper,
the sophisticate and the country
!
bumpkin who tries to be both. Her
second number, “The Jitter," shows
the influence of the jitterbug era.
Tickets costing 50 cents are on
sale by members of Junior and
Senior Orchesis, in the women’s
physical education office in Ger
linger, and in the main office of
