University Lutheran students
have planned an Easter breakfast
for 8 Sunday morning at their

Bach’s Cantata will be the sub
ject of a talk by Joseph Brye, head
of music at Oregon State College,
at the group’s regular 5:30 p. m.

At Beaux Arts
Ball, Saturday
“No one will be allowed to enter
without a costume.”
That was the word from Chair
man Jack Broome regarding- the
Beaux Arts Ball, which will be
held from 8 to midnight Saturday
in Gerlinger annex.
“Costumes should be in keeping
with the theme of the Ball, ‘De
parted Spirits,’ ” said Jerry Smith,
assistant to Broome.
Annual Affair
The Ball, an annual affair, is
sponsored by the Associated Stu
dents of Architecture and Allied
Arts.
Only faculty members of the
School of Architecture and Allied
Arts, members of the ASAAA end
their dates, and special guests will
attend.
No tickets will be sold at the
door.
Entertainment Set
A featured intermission enter
tainer will be Fred Sausville,
sophomore in architecture and al
lied arts, who will mimic several
radio and stage personalities.
Music for dancing will be by
Freddy Yahn and his orchestra.
Membership in the ASAAA is
open to all students in the School
of Architecture and Allied Arts,
costs $1 a person for the year, and
entitles one to attend all functions
sponsored by the association.

Says Civil Service Man
“Job opportunities are constantly
opening up, although on a long
range basis,” James M. Clinton,
acting director of the Oregon civil
service, told students Thursday.
Approximately 65 students as
sembled in room 3 Fenton to dis
cuss civil service employment with
a group of state representatives
headed by Clinton.
Clinton emphasized the need for
immediate application.
“You might not be hired for six
months or a year, but with the
present surplus of candidates you
must apply now,” he said.
Some positions in specialized
fields are available now, he re
ported. He also mentioned sum
mer work in the highway, forestry,
and agriculture departments which
will be open in the next few
months.
George Robinson, chief examiner,
described the advantages of the
exam system. ‘'Take the exam
even if it does not assure you of a
position,” he said.
Both Clinton and Robinson
stated that state salaries are com
parable to those in private in
dustry.
State representatives participat

Adam Lafor, division of aduits;
Gordon Shattuck, unemployment
compensation commission; A. T.
Johnson, state board of health, and
Miss Margaret White, state public
welfare commission.
