Religious Groups Plan
Dr. Francis IJart, assistant professor of physics, will speak on
‘Prayer and Scientific Law” in a continuation of the Christian House
series on prayer. The speech will follow the 6 o’clock worship service
Sunday evening. Clif Pe'ightal will be in charge of the worship service.
Westminster House will hold its annual installation service for new
officers elected Thursday at the group’s weekly fellowship supper. The
Rev. Tom Hunter, director of Westminster House, will speak on “The
Beliefs of a Protestant.’
Lutheran students will spend
Sunday evening at the Lutheran
House on the Oregon State College
campus. Rev. H. Hokenson of
Portland will speak to the eom
oined groups.
Trip Planned
On Mar. 12 the Westminster
Foundation will send a deputation
to the McMinnville First Presby
terian Church. Those attending
will be Jim Woodworth, Ellen
Stone,- Ben Lyon, Mary Nelson,
Frank Cothrell, accompanied by
Rev. Hunter.
Dr. Lloyd T. Anderson, pastor
of First Baptist Church of Salem,
will speak to the C.O.S. university
group at First Baptist Church Sun

Anderson to Speak
Dr. Anderson will speak Sunday
evening and each night next week
in a Spiritual Awakening Crusade
at the church. Monday night is
young people’s night and Dr. And
erson will speak on, “A Moving in
Mulberry Trees.”
At the 11 a. m. service the pas
tor, Dr. Vance H. Webster, will
preach on “Christ the Bread of
Life.”
Plymouth Club
Plymouth Club will offer games,
dancing, and varied recreation to
students tonight at 8 p. m. in the
club’s recreation center.
Shuffleboard, table games, ping
pong, billiards, and square and
round dancing are available at the
weekly Friday night fests of the
club.
Wallace Hayden, Associate pro
fessor of architecture, designed the
new interior. Redecoration was
sponsored by the Eugehe Congre
gational Church.
Plymouth Club is open Tuesdays
and Thursdays from 2 to 5 p. m. for
interested students, and Sunday
i from 4 to 5:40 p. m. All Univer
sity students are welcome to the
Club during open hours for free
recreation and relaxations, accord
ing to Mrs. Bryant, director.
Sunday evening, Mar. 5, Ply
mouth Club students will present a
discussion on the theme “Practice
What You Preach: Vital Christian
Living.” This will feature the ideas
that students brought back from
the conference at Camp Magruder
last week end. This discussion
will be at 6 p. m. in the Wheeler
Room of the Congregational
Church, 13th and Ferry.

Dart, assistant professor of phys
ics, will lead a discussion on “Prac
tical Plans for Peace.”
Canterbury Club
Canterbury Club will hold the
sixth in its series on “Christian
Marriage” Sunday at 7 p. m. Fath
er E. S. Bartlam of St. Mary’s
Episcopal Church will preside. Eve
ning* prayer at 5:30 and dinner at
6 will precede the discussion.
Nominations of officers will be
held at a short business meeting
following dinner.
New Station
Plans Opening
An open-house Saturday and
Sunday will inaugurate the official
opening of an ultra-modern Shell
service station located near the
campus on 13th and Hilyard.
The station, completed two
weeks ago at a cost of $50,000, is
managed by Bob Higgins, former
University student. It is owned
by the Shell Oil Company.
Higgins, who has been with the
company three years, said garden
ias, coffee and doughnuts, balloons,
and door-prizes will be given away
this weekend.
The new station is one of only
two of its type in the Northwest.
Featuring the latest in modern
equipment and design, the plant
will have a 10,000-gallon storage
capacity for gasoline. An oil heater
hung from the ceiling will furnish
heat through a system of pipes
to parts of the building. Flour
escent light will provide the lum
ination.
Four low-bov gas pumps have
been installed. The station is open
from 7 a. m. to 1 a. m.

Nine Men Initiated
Into Physics Honorary
A reception for new members of
Sigma Pi Sigma, physics honorary,
was held Feb. 28, in Gerlinger Hall,
followed by a pot-luck dinner at
Westminster House.
A program of movies on atomic
energy was also featured.
New members of the honorary
