Sheffold grabbed three aerials which were intended for Spartans to go ahead of Oregon’s Woodley Lewis in the pass interception column. Three on Injury List As Ducks Run OSC Plays Head Coach Jim Aiken ran his Duck charges through a heavy two hour scrimmage with pads on the lower football practice field yester day in preparation for Saturday's tussle with the Oregon State Beav ers. “The team looks good," Aiken said after tire session. “They’ve got lots of fight and are in high spirits for OSC.” THItF.E MEN INHERED Three men are currently on the injury list for the Webfoots. Robinson set the new mark last Saturday when he caught six aer Downtown Club Honors Seniors In Rally Today Senior members of the Oregon football squad will be honored this afternoon in a large-scale rally sponsored jointly by the Oregon siudent body and the Oregon Club, a Eugene organization. Known as the Town and Gown Rally, the program will begin on North Willamette street at 4 p. m., when rooters form a parade and march to Hayward field, where they will watch the team practice and will listen to the scheduled speakers. Led by the University band the parade will be flanked by police es corts. Paraders will march down Willamette street, entering Hay ward Field at the 18th street en trance, where accompanying cars will be parked. The six speakers are scheduled to make brief talks after the team completes practice at 5 p. m. Among- the speakers will Be University President Harry K. Newburn, Coach Jim Aiken, Stu dent Body President Art John son, President Frank Kiggs, of the Oregon Club, the captain of the Ducks (not yet selected), and a former Oregon athlete. The 15 seniors who will be hon ~>red include Halfbacks George Bell, Woodley Lewis, Johnny Mc Kay, and Tommy Hines; Fullbacks DeWayne Johnson and Bob Sand ers; Ends Les Hagen, Art Milne, Darrell Robinson, and Lou Robin son; Tackles Steve Dotur, Sam Nevills, Bob Roberts, and Dean Sheldon; and Guard Ed Chrobot. He broke the old mark of 27, set last year by another Web foot, Dick Wilkins. Wilkins is now playing professional football for the Los Angeles Dons in the Na tional Football Conference. ONE GAME LEFT Robinson’s 31 catches have been good for 404 yards and seven touch downs. He has one game remaining to be played to up his total when the Ducks meet their traditional intrastate rival, Oregon State, this Saturday on Hayward Field. Another Northwest football player, Stan McGuire of Oregon State, also set a new conference mark. The Beaver end has pass ed the record for points after touchdowns in conference play for a single season of 21, set last year by Jim Cullom of California. McGuire has booted 26 conver sions in PCC action. He also has one game left to play. Cullom’s current record of 23 placements tops his old mark, while Gary Kerkorian of Stanford has tied the old record. MONACIIINO LEADS SANDERS In other statistics, Webfoot Bob Sanders dropped to second place in the scoring parade when Jim Mon achino of California scored three times against the Ducks to take command with eleven touchdowns. Sanders has ten teedees for 60 points while Ken Carpenter, OSC, Bill Martin, USC, and Bob Wilkin son, UCLA, are knotted at third with nine tallies apiece. Woodley Lewis, Oregon half back, remained the most danger ous man in the conference in kickoff returns although he could get his hands on the ball only once during the Cal game. His average is 46.4 yards a try, com ing on 8 returns for 371 yards. Sanders, although he was held scoreless, kept his rushing lead ov er his opponents. Sanders now has carried the ball 138 times for 687 net yards. His closest competitor is Ken Car penter of OSC who has a net of 634 yards. Three other Oregon backfield men are among the top ten on the coast. George Bell and Woodley Lewis hold down seventh and eighth spots while Johnny McKay is tenth. Only other school to place over one man among the top ten rushers was the Idaho Vandals with John Brogan, fourth, and Bob Mays, ninth. SHEFFOLD HEADS LEWIS” Jim Powers of USC continues to lead the league in total offense.-^, with 1144 yards in seven games— an average of 163.4 yards per con test. He also leads in every phase of passing. Bill Sheffold of Oregon State picked off three Michigan State passes to overtake Woodley Lew is in pass interceptions. Sheffold has nine to Lewis’ eight. Emery Mitchell of Stanford is the leading punter in the confer ence with a 40.9 average per kick. Although idle last week, John Williams of USC held his lead in punt returns.
