students will be initiated into Al
pha Kappa Delta, national sociol
ogy fraternity Nov. 9 at the Fac
ulty Club.

Foulon, Arthur Gravatt, Marjorie
Griffith, Robert L. James, Jera
ldyn Jerome, Elizabeth Jones, Har
riett Kernes, Ruth Kilbourn, Eliza
beth Knight, Karoline Peterman,
Helen Pickett, Eleanor Ribbans,
and Jerry Wilson.

J. V. Berreman, associate profes
sor of sociology, is adviser to the

Senator to Speak
Austin F. Flegel Jr., Democratic
senator in the Oregon Legislature,
will speak on the advantages of
the proposed Columbia Valley Ad
ministration at the weekly lunch
eon of the Chamber of Commerce
at noon Friday. The luncheon will
be in the Persian Room of the Eu
gene Hotel.

The honorary held an informal
initiation Tuesday.
Racial Forum Slated
The University Inter - racial
Forum will meet today from 4:30
to 5:30 p.m. at Westminster House.
The meeting is open to all those
interested.

The members of the Mathemat
ics Department faculty have re
cently had papers accepted for
publication by professional journ
als.
“Approximation in LIP (Alpha,
P)” by Paul Civin, associate pro
fessor of mathematics, appears in
the current issue of the Bulletin
of the American Mathematical
Society.
Ivan Niven, associate professor
of mathematics, has written an ar
ticle entitled “The Iteration of Cer
tain Arithmetic Functions,” which
was accepted by the Canadian
Journal of Mathematics for publi
cation after the first of the year.
There’s little peace of mind when
