Entitled “Invitation to Read,” it will include discussions of novels, plays, poems and prose criticism works. They will be discussed in pair which provide either contrast or supplement to each other. Dr. C. B. Youmans Schedules Speech Premedical students and others interested in medicine will have an opportunity to hear Dr. William B. Youmans, member of the Ad missions Committee of the Uni versity of Oregon Medical School, Friday at 7:30 p.m. in 207 Chap man. *- Dr. Youmans will conduct an in formal question and answer period pertaining to Medical School ad missions. Wives and prospective wives of permedical students are especially invited. Asklepiads, medical honorary, is sponsoring the meeting. The first lecture is entitled “Am erican Heritage’’ and the subject will be “Common Sense” by Paine; the following week’s subject is “The Scarlet Letter” by Haw thorne. Mr. Castell, who was connected with KUOM in Minnesota, has had wide lecturing experience at the University of Minnesota. He has written several books and articles including “College Logic” and “In troduction to Modern Philosophy.” Piquet to Talk At Dinner Meet Dr. Howard S. Piquet, visiting professor of economics, will speak at a dinner meeting of the Social Science Club, Oct. 16 at 6:15 p.m. at the Faculty Club. Dr. Piquet, Senior Specialist in International Economics, Leisla tive Reference Service, Library of Congress, will speak on “Our Foreign Economic Policy and the Recent Currency Devaluations.” The Social Science Club is for members of the faculty only. This dinner is given to earn funds for the Hazel P. Schwering memorial scholarship. It is a $300 scholarship awarded annually to an outstanding junior woman. The winner is announced late spring term. All organization send a certain number of girls to dinner at another house. Each girl, whether an exchange guest or not, contrib utes 10 cents to the fund. This money is to be taken to the office of the director of women’s affairs. The houses as they are paired are: Carson—2 floor—Delta Delta Delta, Sigma Kappa. 3 floor—Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma. 4 floor—Pi Beta Phi, Zeta Tau Alpha. La Mesa Espanola To Hold Meeting La Mesa Espanola, which in English means “the Spanish table,” will be held this noon at the An chorage. All students who are in terested in Spanish conversation are invited to attend the luncheon. This club was started last winter term and will continue on this year, meeting every Wednesday noon with the conversation being car ried on only in Spanish.
