Browsing Room
Lectures to Resume
Resumption of a browsing room
lectures in the library has been
promised by Miss Bernice Rise,
head of the circulation department.
Miss Rise released a tentative list
of topics for the weekly series, to
be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 p. m.
Such writers as. Aldous Huxley,
Mark Twain, and Marcel Proust are
among those on the discussion list.
Recent science, history, and poetry
books will also be on the agenda.
The series will be held in the Stu
dent Union when it is completed,
Miss Rise said.
The writing of poetry, says a pub
lisher, can’t be taught. Or fought!
Homecomig Chief
Petitions Due
Petitions for general chairman,
of the 1949 Homecoming celebra
tion are due Thursday at 5 p.m.,
Student Body President Art John
son announced yesterday.
"This is one of the biggest, and
certainly one of the most import
ant chairmanships of the year,”
Johnson stated.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors
are eligible to petition. Only peti
tions for the general chairmanship
are being considered now; a call
for subchairmen will be issued
later.
Applications may be turned in
to Lou Weston at the Delta Zeta
house.
