Women's Co-ops Ask For Fall Applications Any women students interested in living in one of the cooperative houses next year are invited to ■ make application before the end of the term with Margaret Per ► kins,, membership chairman, at Highland house, 1335 Onyx street. Selection of members will be made by a committee from the three houses by July 15. Members • are picked on the basis of scholar ■ ship, cooperativeness and financial | need. Each girl lives on probation the first term, at the end of which she is voted into membership and initiated at a formal dinner. The three houses are incorporat ed as Co-Ed Housing Inc. Its coun cil, represented by the officers of • each house, makes policies and hires a manager who does all the buying. Rebec house, at 729 East Thir teenth, was willed to the corpora tion by the late George Rebec, but University house which moved spring term to a new house at 1675 Agate, and Highland, are rented from the University. Several years ago a building fund was started in anticipation of building at some future datee. Room and board this year has been $38.50 a month, and it is ex pected that this rate will prevail next year. A small fee is charged each term to pay for house dances and other social activities. The girls do all their own housework, as serving of meals and dishwash ing, but a cook is hired for each house. Each girl does an average of five hours work a week. Fifth Moot Trial Rodman - Foster Clash Tonight Fifth of the law school’s moot trials will he held at 7:30 tonight in the circuit room of the Lane county court house. Tonight’s case is based on an , automobile accident which oc curred April 12 on Hilyard street between 20th and 21st. The plain • tiff Walter Rodman, swerving to miss a child in the street, hit the defendant, Charles Foster, causing damage to his car. Rodman is charging Foster with improper . lookout, defective brakes and speeding and is demanding $249.50 Oestereich Named President of IRC Dave Oestereich, junior in jour nalism, was elected president of the International Relations club for next year. Sally Waller, junior in political science, was chosen vice -president. for damages. Attorneys for the plaintiff in the case tonight will be Harold Johnson, Ralph Johnson and Mrs. Marilyn Sturgis; for the defendant, Roger Dick and James Schiller. Judge will be Orlando John Hollis, dean of the law school. The moot trials will be concluded next week with cases scheduled for June 7 and 8. Schnaidt New j ADS President Jack Schrtaidt was elected 1949 50 president of Alpha Delta Sigma at the advertising fraternity’s final meeting of the year Tuesday night. Other officers named wefe Mel Van Lom, vice-president, and Jer ry Kinnersly, secretary-treasurer. Tom McLaughlin received the group’s outstanding senior award. McLaughlin has been advertising manager and assistant business manager of the Emerald. Final plans for the national ADS convention which will be held here in the latter part of June were made. Racial Fellowship Group Planned Giving itself the name of Inter racial Fellowship, the campus group recently formed to investi gate race prejudice and promote interracial harmony is planning its program for future years. All interested students are in vited to a meeting tonight at 5 in Westminster house, where the group will discuss organization in order to perpetuate itself. The Rev. Dr. Wesley Nicholson of the Con gregational church and Dr. J. V. Berreman of the sociology depart ment will be present. Representatives of Jewish, Ne gro, Chinese, Japanese, and white groups are members of the fellow ship. Holmes Elected To Music Group Anita Holmes was recently elected to the board of directors of the Eugene and University Civic Music association. She will replace Bob Allen. This is the second year the Uni versity has had representation in the organization. Other campus representatives for next year are Art Johnson, incoming ASUO president, and Dick Williams, edu cational activities* manager. At present the board is deciding which concert artists will appear at McArthur court next year. G. E. Gaylord, president of the Music association since its concep tion, announced his resignation at the same meeting. SENIORS!
