    European Travels
Topic of Speech
MRS. HOWARD HILTON will
speak on her observation in Europe
at the meeting of the YWCA public
affairs committee Thursday at 4 p.
m. in the bungalow.
Mrs. Hilton has been in Hungary
with her husband, who was with the
American embassy.
Glenna Hurst
(Continued from page one)
“It was a lot of fun,” Glenna said,
“and particularly so since by own
dad portrayed my father in the
play.”
Another of her interesting ex
periences occurred in the high
school production of “George Wash
ington Slept Here.”
“In the original play a few drinks
were supposed to supply our incen
tive for destroying the furniture in
our house,” Glenna expained, "but
since this was high school, of course
there could be no drinking. We
drank tea instead.
“And I'm sure that it was quite
unbelievable to see us work our
selves into such a destructive fren
zy after only a few cups of that
wicked beverage!”
Glenna is a sophomore, and a
speech major, but is not planning a
career in the field of dramatics. She
is very interested in speech correc
tion work.
Her plans for the immediate fu
ture include the establishment of a
summer day nursery in Albany.
“The Show-off,” under the direc
tion of Charles B. Ingram, opens a
one-week run on Friday, May 27.
Diploma, Job
(Continued from page one)
ing as a busboy in a St. Louis ho
tel.
Any job is better than no job. It
isn’t as important where you start
as it is where you go from where
you start. The nice thing about
starting at the bottom is that
there is only one way to go—up.
Work and brains and friendliness
will get you anywhere. And hon
esty will help keep you there.
Of course, you can always marry
a rich lady and live a life of ill
ease. But experts in this field all
agree there is nothing harder than
working at matrimony for a
wealthy woman.
Do marry as soon as you. have a
job and are sure you can hold it.
There is no future in being a he
moth. And a good wife is worth
her weight in income tax exemp
tions. And she can help you get
more income tax exemptions worth
having.
Whom to wed? A girl with a
warm heart, my boy. Never mind
her face. It'll change. But a good
heart doesn’t wrinkle.
Above all, my boy, don’t marry
a drinking woman—unless you
want to spend your life listening
to a talking hangover. Never mar
ry a woman to reform her.

Theta Chis Get Golf Crown
Plus Two Phi Theta Members
Last night the Theeta Chis won a golf championship. Last night
members of Phi Theta Upsilon, junior women’s service honorary tapped
new members.
Two Phi Thetas believe in giving credit where it is due. And it was
due to Emerald Sports Editor Dick Cramer and Don Fair, former
sports editor and managing editor, for their consistent and ardent in
terest in women’s service honoraries.
The tappers, flanked by their eighteen Phi Theta sisters, approached
the Theta Chi house burdened with tapping paraphernalia of mam
moth carrots, emblemed hat and sweater, and hair tonic for Cramer’s
..brother of the extensive forehead.
They were greeted royally. The whole Theta Chi clan rushed past
them to congratulate the victorious golfers who followed the girls in.
