    Teachers Mimic Pupils; Wear to
Class Sloppy Clothes, Hi-Y Pins
SALEM, May 20—(AP)—Xhe
teachers at Parrish junior high
school got tired of looking at all
those loose shirttails and draggy
skirts in their classrooms each day.
So they decided to make the pu
pupils stare at it for a change.
The usually neatly-groomed fac
ulty scuffed into school this morn
ing in baggy sweaters, drooping
skirts, overalls—and bubble gum.
The male teachers had their shirt
tails out. Principal Carl Aschen
brenner had his overalls fastened
with rivets. He had trouble keep
ing them on.
The women teachers chawed
"bubble gum and sported Hi-Y pins
on their bosoms. For a girl, a Hi-Y
pin in me junior mgn suuoui autu
lade: it means a popular boy likes
her.
In between bubbles, the teachers
simpered solefully at their pins.
The point explained the faculty,
was to let the kids know how the
teachers think they look.
“They sure made us feel stupid,”
said young Pat Pease. “But the
teachers were more fun than they
have been for a long time.”
