Full Program Slated for Mothers Dear Boss: Funk Defunct. Assignment Junked One of the Emerald editors (trusting soul) assigned a star reporter to cover the Freshman man-Sophomore tug-of-war yes terday afternoon. Several hours later, the fol lowing communique from the battlefield on Skinner’s butte was received by the editor via carrier Duck: “Dear Boss: (it began) “The press is not so immune as you might think. Due to the fact that I turned in our house presi dent and several of my rather se rious-minded fraternity brothers to the Order of the “O” as tradi tion violators, violent and bigoted action has been taken against me. “I am supposed to go up and paint the “O” with my southern extremes this afternoon about 4. Thus I cannot get a story on the tug-of-war, which occurs (it was reported) soon thereafter. How ever, several of my fellow-con spirators have been forced into the battle, and if need be I can get sufficient details from them for a feature. “Whether or no, I shall check in after doing my bit for tradi tion. “I am trying to get Mr. Yates (the crochety old veteran editor | ■of the Emerald) to write an edi torial about this. How much long er are we mature freshmen going to stand for such foolish tradi tions, anyway ? Cordially, Bob Funk Editor’s note: At press time no word had been received in the Emerald offices from reporter < Funk. A recruiting drive for vol unteers to go rescue Funk was underway among the female staff members of the Emerald.
