Sports Glory (Continued from page four) more whirlpool tank this summer, this one large enough to treat the whole body. IN THE WAY of lamps, there is a 1500 Watt radiant which is used for top surface treatment, and four infra-reds, all of which are control led by automatic timers. The train ing room also harbors an ultra vio let lamp which clears fungus and skin disorders. One of the most effective gadgets in the room is a 1,000 dollar electric short-wave diathermy machine which operates through a pair of pads or clamps. The pads are placed around the arm, for example, and the rays, attracting each other, go through the arm, thus treating sore spots that have worked below the surface. FOOTBALL, SEASON has prov ed to be exceptionally busy for the training room staff. The first four teams get their ankles taped before a home game. That means 44 men —which in turn means 88 ankles. Grid cPaeh Jim Aiken insists that each man tape his ankles before a game; at least partially as a result of this, there hasn’t been an Ore gon gridder out with a bad ankle in two years. Some coaches make the taped ankle an optional move on the part of the player—and Oregon State can attest to the not-too-sound wis dom of that policy. 23 Girls Pledge Spring Term l MUST—23 COEDS PLEDGE .
