Library Contest Deadline
Set for Thursday, May 5
Thursday, May 5, at 6 p.m. is
the deadline for entries in the an
nual Library Day prize contest,
which will be held on May 7.
Prizes of $25, $15, and $10 in
books to be purchased at the Co-op
will be given in each of the three
categories of the contest—under
graduate student’s specialized li
brary, undergraduate student’s
general library, and graduate stu
dent’s library. Already over 40 en
tries have been received, but it is
hoped that last year’s total, 55, can
be surpassed this year. Up to date,
the University of Oregon stands
highest in the nation in the qual
ity and number of student libraries
submitted for this contest.
Rules of the contest are:
1. Entries must be limited to less
than 50 volumes.
2. Required textbooks which will
become a permanent part of your
library may be included.
3. Each book must bear a defin
ite mark of your ownership.
4 Entries must be made by 6
p.m. of Thursday, May 5, 1949, to

6. Prize winners of former
years are invited to exhibit their
libraries, but they are ineligible for
another prize award.
7. Judging by a committee of
five appointed by the head librar
ian will take place at 2 p.m. Sat
urday. The libraries will be judged
on the selection of titles as they
meet the objectives of a student’s
personal library.
8. Prizes will be awarded Satur
day afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Ade
laide Church memorial room
(browsing room) of the University
of Oregon library.

the first women’s co-op on the
University campus.
