Young Demos Convene Here This Weekend The local Young Democrat chapter will play host this week end to the state convention of Young Democrat clubs. Keynote speaker for the con vention, which begins Saturday morning, will be State Represen tative Howard Morgan (D. Clackamas-Multnomah district). The recent CVA legislation intro duced in congress will be discussed by C. Girard Davidson, assistant secretary of the interior in the main address at the Saturday night ban quet. Saturday night from 8 to 12 a free public dance will be given in Gerlinger annex. After election of state officers Sunday afternoon, the convention will adjourn. Delegates elected by the local Young Democrats Wednesday were Charles Zulauff, Jack Sollis, Eileen Lamley, Dick Guttridge, Keith Clark, Duane Lemley, Helen Sher man, Allen Murphy, Dewey Rand, and John Chatt. Alternates chosen are Jane Cor diner, Joe Cunningham, Cassie Hyde, Ray Knapp, Tom Mitchell, Bill Pearson, Hollister Rhine, and William Schallek. AA School Names Stude Candidates Nominations for student officers of the school of architecture were held yesterday afternoon at the art school. Elections will be held next Thursday and officers will be in stalled at the art school's spring picnic, tentatively scheduled for May 27. Results of the nominations are: for president, Jack Broome, War ren Carkin, Harold Sleight, Mort Patton. Vice president—James Hosey, Paul Edlund, Jeff Case. Ore-Nter Returns (Continued from page one) cial assistance, will be pooled in one book—the Ore-Nter—to make a publication of vital interest to the new students. It is hoped by the co editors that the new Ore-Nter can be mailed to prospective students about one month before their arriv al on the Oregon campus. Content of the book has not as yet been completely decided, but it will probably include sections on the Oregon social code, student leaders, campus activities, tradi tion, history, and University per sonnel. Committee Studies Foreign Questions A new student body committee is being organized to handle for eign student problems and corre spondence coming to the Univer sity of Oregon, according to Amy Lou Ware, chairman of the com mittee. “Letters from students in Ger many, Finland, Norway, and the Philippines are waiting to be an swered,” Miss Ware said, stressing the importance of such work to in ternational relations. 'Show-Off' Tryouts Monday, Tuesday Tryouts for George Kelly’s fam ous comedy of American life, “The Show-Off” will be held this Mon day and Tuesday at 7:30 in Guild hall. Charles Ingram, instructor in speech, will direct the play, which will be presented as the last pro duction of the University theater’s 1948-49 season. String Quartet To Play Sunday The University string quartet will perform Sunday, April 24, at 4 p.m. This will be the sixth of seven concerts to be performed by this group, which is composed of Mr. George Boughton, violin, Mrs. D. W. Allton, violin; Mr. E. A. Cyk ler, viola, and Mr. Milton Dieterich, ’cello. The program consists of a suite arrangement of an opera by Pur cell, a sonata for two violins by Prokofief, and a Schubert quartet. The last program in the series will be held May 22. They have has heard their concerts as to a se will be May 22. The quartet has not selected the third number for this program and would appre ciate suggestions from anyone who has hear their concerts as to a se lection they might repeat. Spectacle Tickets On Sale Monday Tickets for “Marco Millions,” University theater spectacle pro duction to be presented April 30 in McArthur court, will go on sale. The box office in Johnson hall will be open from 10 to 5. Volunteer box office workers are needed, according to drama secre tary LeJeune Griffith. They may sign up for the hours they care to work in room 204 Villard. Dorm Presidents Elect New Officers The council of Men's Dormitory Presidents elected officers for the coming year at their regular meet ing Wednesday night. New officers are: President Clarence Naapi, Sherry Ross hall: Vice-President James Fleming, Sigma hall; and Secretary-Treas urer David Dimm, French hall.
