On Long Terms
“Any person who knows of
someone who has had to leave
.school because of financial diffi
culties is invited to tell him of the
Student Affairs loan program,”
'Vergil S. Fogdall, loan director, an
nounced yesterday.
, Loans to students are of two va
rieties: short and long term. The
short term loans are for a period
of two months, and the long term
of two main classes: aid until the
summer vacation, when the stu
dent can repay it from his earn
ings; and aid until graduation for
juniors or seniors.
Women students who wish to
apply for loans should contact
Women’s Affairs Director Golda P.
Wickham. Men should see Fogdall.
Students Reminded
Of Old Regulations
In a reminder to the student body
yesterday the Office of Student Af
fairs repeated the following rules:
“No student may hold office
whose scholastic average was
either below a 2.00 last term or a
2.00 accumulative.”
In regard to off-campus housing:
“Rooms in private homes are
considered to be rented for an en
tire term unless otherwise arrang
ed in writing.”
VA Explains
Missing Checks
Absence of many subsistence
checks from yesterday’s mail was
attributed to failure by veterans
to report changes of address to
the Veterans Administration.
Thousands of veterans failed to re
ceive checks last month because
of this neglect, a V.A. report in
dicated.
Since the post office department
cannot deliver a government check
to an address not occupied by the
payee, many checks are returned
to the treasury department dis
bursing offices. They in turn for
ward the check to the VA who
bolds the check until the veteran
reports.
Because of the long delay in
volved in returning checks to
“missing” veterans, the VA urged
that all changes of address be re
ported promptly.
