    Color Barrier Separates Family
ENTRY TO AUSTRALIA to rejoin his wife and two children was denied Cpl. Lorenzo Gamboa, U. S.
army, Filipino war hero, despite Gen. Mac Arthur’s intercession. The Australian government declined
to make an exception in its “white Australia’’ policy, considering Gamboa an Asiatic regardless of his
citizenship. Pictured in Melbourne, Australia, is Gamboa’s wife, Joyce, and their two children Julie 2,
and Raymond, 4. Australian government has offered to pay Gamboa’s family’s way to America. ( VP

'The Dybbuk' to be
Discussed Tonight
Alex Tampkin, ’30, will give the

Tamkin wrote the opera, adapt

was performed for the first time in
Portland, February 7 by the Port
land Symphony orchestra and Met
ropolitan tenor Jan Peerce.
Records of the opera which were
cut at a final rehearsal will be
played. Rabbi E. Charles Sydney,
advisor of the University of Ore

J. Paul Sheedy* Switched to Wildroot Cream-Oil
Because He Flunked The Finger-Nail Test
If PEOPLE are whiskering about you, better check up on your
hair. Before J.P. switched to Wildroot Cream-Oil hair tonic,
he was wide open for all kinds of catty remarks about his ratty
appearance. Not so today! Now that he’s using Wildroot
Cream-Oil regularly, annoying dryness and loose, ugly dan
druff are gone. His hair stays put all day. He can pass the
Wildroot Finger-Nail Test without batting an eye.
J.P.’s experience leads us to suggest that you try non-alcoholic
Wildroot Cream-Oil containing Lanolin, too. Get yourself a
bottle or tube today at your drug or toilet goods counter.
And, have your barber give you professional applications.
You’ll agree that for well-groomed hair Wildroot Cream-Oil
is purr-feet!
