TIFFANY - DAVIS 8th and Willamette Good Weather Speeds Building Construction Oregon’s building program, ac- j celerated by improved weather conditions, advanced greatly dur ing vacation week. Most important was the final preparations of the first and sec ond floors of Villard hall for speech classes. Offices of the speech de partment and faculty members of the speech division have moved to Villard, and spring term classes began yesterday in the newly ren ovated building. In addition, progress has been made in the construction of the Villard theater wing. Most of the exterior concrete of the building has been poured, and workmen will begin on the interior, which will house Oregon’s theater when com pleted. * On the southern edge of the campus, the new music building is taking shape. At the present time, the brick facade is being laid. The interior is as yet in more rudi mentary stages of construction. The new music building will in clude classrooms, offices, and prac tice rooms, which will alleviate the crowded conditions of the mu sic school. Builders have found the wet, cold weather of the past months a great obstacle to their construction schedule. UO’s student union building continues to grow from piles of building material on the block ad jacent to University and Thir teenth streets. Bricklaying will be gin in the immediate future on the northern wing of the building, al though the rest of the restructure is not so far advanced. Bricklaying on the new women’s dormitory has been in progress for several days. The dormitory will probably be completed some time next fall or winter.
