    Twenty-Six Living Organizations
Elect Officers for Next School Year
Twenty-six campus living organizations have elected house
officers for the 1949-50 school year. The remaining houses will
elect new officers at the beginning of spring term.
Among the new officers are Alpha Tau Omega’s new prexy,
Bob Harrison; rushing chairman, Dan Cudahy ; and social chair
man, Barry Mountain, Beta Theta Pi elected Bill Barlow, presi
dent; Glen Holden, rushing chairman; arid Tom Chapman, so
cial chairman. i

Alpha Phi has named Joanne
Frydenlund to the office of presi
dent, Bev Zamsky as secretary; and

Concert on Piano
A program of contemporary
music will be presented by pianist
Jack Witter, graduate student in
music, tonight at a in the school
of music auditorium.
Two numbers, a concerto for pi
ano and orchestra by Chavez and
a sonata for piano by Bartok, will
constitute the program.
r i m i t i v e Mexican Indian
rhythms are utilized by Chavez in
his composition, while Bartok, a
Hungarian, has included Central
European folk song elements in his
sonata.
No admission will be charged for
the program.
National Meet
Summons Dean
E. L. Johnson, dean of the Col
lege of Liberal Arts and the grad
uate school, will go to Washington,
D. C., next month to attend the
annual national conference of the
Society for Public Administration,
March 11-13.
Dean Johnson, as a delegate to
the conference, will head a round
table which will examine the ques
tion “Government as an Employ
er.” His group will discuss govern
ment in relation to employees, gov
ernment employee unions, and
problems of that kind.
Dean Johnson is president of the
Oregon chapter of the Society for
Public Administration, a national
organization of public administra
tors, professors, educators and stu
dents of administrative techniques.

noon Saturday, February 26, in the

To Cities Meet
Dr. S. Wengert, head of the po
litical science department, E. L.
Johnson, dean of the College of
Liberal Arts, and Herman Kehrli,
director of the University Bureau
of Municipal Research, will attend
a joint meeting of the Oregon City
Managers and the Oregon chapter
of the Society for Public Adminis
tration in Portland, Friday, Feb
ruary 25.
Professor Charles McKinley,
Reed college, will speak before the
delegates on “The Pros and Con of
a CVA as an Administrative De
vice.” His talk will be followed by
election of officers.
Discussions will then be held on
Professor McKinley’s speech and
mutual problem in the field of city
management and public adminis
tration.
The conference, an annual affair
to be held as a luncheon meeting
at 12:15 p.m. at the Portland
Chamber of Commerce building, is
expected to attract about 100 Ore
gon delegates, including city man
agers, Oregon members of the So
ciety for Public Administration,
representatives of public adminis
trative groups such as the State
Unemployment commission, the
Bonneville Power commission, and
other welfare agencies, plus uni
versity and College professors.
Dean Johnson is president of
the Oregon chapter of the SPA, a
national organization of public ad
ministrators, professors, educators,
and students of administrative
techniques.
Varsity Golfers Meet
Members of the varsity golf team
will hold a meeting tomorrow at 4
p. m. in the athletic office at Me
Court.
Sigma Chi took all three matches
from Sigma Nu in Monday’s intra
mural handball eliminations.
