Sunday in Collision
Robert Zollner, senior in business
administration, suffered minor in
juries in an automobile accident, '■
Sunday afternoon. The Eugene po
lice report said that Zollner was
attempting to pass a car driven by
Charles E. Davis, Cheshire, and
didn't see an oncoming car. Zoll
ner’s vehicle skidded about 120 feet
before colliding with Davis.
Zollner’s car was nearly a total
loss while damage to Davis’ car
was estivated at $400. Zollner had

Bankers Allowed

SALEM, Feb. 21 —(AP)—Rep.
Harvey Wells, Portland, told the
house today why he voted for the
bill to let banks close on Satur
days.
He said he got a big valentine
signed by hundreds of girls employ
ed in Portland banks. On the valen
tine was this poem:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Close banks on Saturday
And we will love you.
There was only one vote against
the bill. j
l-M Moves.
(Continued from (kujc five)
the afternoon since the latter lacks
the necessary scoring punch to
make it a real threat.
The titleholders have a smooth
operating fast break as well as a
well lubricated setup offense which
moves in from either side of the key
for layins.
To stem this brilliant attack, the j
ATOs only have the floor generall- [
ing of Ed Chrobot, which leaves the j
odds about 5-to-l.
Cast Rehearses
For New Play
Rehearsals are now in progress
for the next University theater pro
duction, “Command Decision,”
which is under the direction of Mrs.
Ottilie T. Seybolt and will open
March 4.
A forcibly written and shrewdly
constructed drama, “Command De
cision" deals with the responsibil
ity of a commanding officer who
must send his men on a suicidal
mission to destroy a jet bomb fac
tory.
The cast includes a tough ser
geant, a cynical war correspondent,
two junketing congressmen full of
patriotism and corruption, a disil
lusioned general, and a flier who
persuades his best friend to send
him out to lead the climactic mis
sion and goes down heroically.
William Wister Haines, who
spent 41 months in the air force
himself, began to write “Command
Decision” on V-J Day. In book form
it made the best-seller lists, and it
was a smash hit when produced on
Broadway in 1947.
