F. R. Maerdian, head of the military science department an nounced yesterday. Seniors who will graduate this spring also are eligible to apply. To be eligible under the new plan Col. Maerdian explained, applicants must: Have at least one year of honor able, active, commissioned service in any component of the armed forces between December 7, 1941, | and September 2, 1945. Have graduated from an accred ited college or university. Be between 21 and 27 years ot age at the time of appointment. Be physically qualified. Be of high moral character and > have a record free of conviction by military or civil court for other than minor traffic violations. Not be a conscientious objector. Not be or have been a member of any foreign or domestic organi zation advocating subversive poli cy or seeking to alter the form of government of the United States by unconstitutional means. Col. Maerdian explained that if an applicant has not been graduat ed from college, the estimated graduation date will be given on the applications, together with a statement of verification by an appropriate official of the school. Applicants holding commissions in the Officers’ Reserve Corps or National guard are to submit ap plications through regular chan nels to the major commander. Oth er applicants not on active duty will submit applications direct to the major United States command er concerned. State policemen Harry Rook and Russell Simons said Thomas B. Leary, 48, of nearby Flintstone, died when a friend tried to shoot a whis key glas's off Leary’s head. The bul let hit Leary in the head.
