It was the fourth straight loss for Idaho since entering Oregon last week to meet two conference rivals. The Vandals lost both games against Oregon last week and then two more here. Coach Slats Gill’s substitution of Big Alex Peterson as the second Iralf opened was the spark that set off an Oregon State drive. It put the Beavers far enough in front that the Vandals never caught up. Peterson banged in a goal within one minute and in the next six min utes had added four more while team mates Glen Kinney and Dick Ballantyne were helping. Idaho (53) Pritchett, f . Geisler, f . I Prep for Weekend Series in Seattle With Washington Oregon’s varsity cagers got down to serious work yester day, following a light workout Monday. John Warren sent his squad through a long practice session to ready them for the two game series in Seattle this weekend against Art McLar ney’s Huskies. This will be the Webfoots last road trip, except for the short jaunts to Corvallis later in the sea son to meet Oregon State. The trip could mean the difference between a good year and a so-so one. The Washington hoopsters, de spite an unimpressive one won, three lost record in the Northern Di vision, will be tough on their home floor, especially if All-Coast Sammy White is ready to go. 1111(7 il. *» The tricky forward sprained his ankle last weekend in Pullman, where the Huskies dropped two games to the current leaders, Wash ington State. McLarney will have his quint in a fighting mood after the Cougar ser ies and the ensuing drop in confer ?nce standings. Washington needs at least an even split in the series and will be hoping for a sweep. Warren feels that liis new-found combination, that worked so effec tively against Idaho, can pull in at least one game and if the Ducks get some breaks, might get both. The Webfoot mentor felt that one of the biggest factors would be White. If he is ready to go, the Hus kies will be twice as effective. Lineup Set Warren is tentatively planning on using his regular lineup of Jim Bartelt and Will Urban at forward, Roger Wiley at center, and Paul Sowers and John Neeley at guard. Reserve strength will be in better shape with Bob Amacher available to relieve Wiley when the big pivot man gets tired. Almost certain to miss the trip, however, will be another reserve center, Jerry Switzer. The 6-foot 4-iiicli southpaw left yesterday af ternoon for Oakland by plane after receiving word that his'father had died. The ev-Uni versify High star has been playing on the second unit. The Webfoots plan to leave Eu gene Thursday and rest up in Seat tle the day of the opening game.
