Mr. Gelhausen To Sing Tonite With Organist A group of four compositions by Hugo Wolf will be sung by Her man Gelhausen, bass-baritone, for the opening of a voice-organ con cert to be presented tonight at 8:15 in the music school auditor ium. Organist for the concert will be Donald Allton. Both men are of the faculty of the University school of music. “Fantasia in Echo Style” by Jan Peter Sweelinck will be the first offering of Organist Allton. He will' follow this with “Prelude and Fugue in A Minor” by J. S. Bach. Elston Composition to Be Played The second group by Mr. Gel hausen will be highlighted by an original composition by a member of the University music school fac ulty, “A Gallant’s Song,” by Arn old Elston. This will be the first performance of this song. Other songs to be sung by Mr. Gelhausen in the second group include “Is There Such a Thing as Day” by Ernest Bacon, “On a Fly Drinking Out of His Cup” by Paul Hine mith, “Four Uncles” by David Dia mond, and “Music I Heard With You” by Paul Nordhoff. Allton to Play Johannes Brahms’ “Choral Prel ude and Fugue on ‘O Traurigkeit, O Herzeleid’ ” will be played by Mr. Allton for the first of his sec ond group of offerings. He will also present Seth Bingham’s “Roulade,” Bruce Simonds’ “Prelude on Tam Sol Recedit Igneus’,” and Cesar Franck’s “Piece Heroigue.” Concluding the recital will be Richard Wagner’s “Abentlich Strahlt Der Sonne Auge from ‘Das Rheingold’,” sung by Mr. Gelhau sen, with Mr. Allton at the organ. Accompanist for Mr. Gelhausen will be graduate student in music, Sylvia Killman of Portland. The concert will be open to the public. Planting time draws near and once more the gardner asks himself if it’s possible that anybody raise parsnips on purpose. £ Carnival Petitions For Positions Due Petitions for the WAA carnival are due by tomorrow. DuShane, director of student affairs, is on his way to New York for the National In terfraternity conference, Novem ber 25-27. DuShane, a former member of the educational advisory commit tee of the conference, is attending this year’s 40th annual conven tion as a representative of the University. Morris to Speak MUST—MORRIS TO SPEAK . D. Victor P. Morris, dean of the University school of business ad ministration, will speak over state owned station KOAC, Corvallis, to day from 2 to 2:30 p. m. Nicholas to Speak To IVC Fellowship Rev. Robert E. Nicholas will speak on “Minds in Captivity for Christ,” at the regular weekly meeting of the Inter-Varsity Chris tian fellowship, to be held at 7 p. m. in John Staub dining room. Rev. Nicholas is pastor of the Westminster Orthodox Presbyter ian church at Bend, Oregon. All UO students are invited to the meeting, according to Bob Driesner, publicity chairman.
