At that time it was one of the few of its kind in the nation. Founders were local men prominent in religious affairs —A. E. Carter, J. J. Ross, and L. S. Patullo. Mrs. Carter, still a resident of Eugene, was hostess at the house from the time of its founding un til 1929. Taking over her place from 1929 to 1932 was Max Adams, who later became a national offi cer of Westminster Foundation. During tne years between 1932 and 1947, Mrs. James Bryant head ed the organization. She and her husband are now directors of the rewly organized Friendly house. This year there is no formal di rector—Mrs. Eva Starr being host ess— since tire resignation of Dr. Joseph Harris, Mrs. Starr’s succes sor. Prominent Alums Some prominent Westminster ‘'alums" include Stanley Robe, now working as a linguist in Mexico; Robin Drews, who is at Ann Arbor; Robert Hardy, head of Far Easten college at New York; and Marlie Rongdahl. Students who live off cam pus make the house their noon time rendevouz. One of the most spectacular of the house activities this fall was the Church Night open house, when guests crowded the two main rooms to dance and refresh them selves.
