    Cykler to Lead
UO Symphony
In First Concert
The University Symphony Orch
estra, under the baton of Dr. Ed
mond Cykler, associate professor
of Musicology, will perform in the
music school auditorium at 4 p. m.
today. The program will consist of
lesser known orchestral works by
l&th century composers.
This will be the first concert to
be given his year by the 70-piece or
chestra. During the remainder of
the school year, it will serve in a
supporting role, accompanying the
music school productions of the
“Messiah” and three one-act operas.
No admission will be charged for
this concert and all students and cit
izens of Eugene are invited to at
tend.
The program is:
“Overture from Allegro" from the
La Sultain Suite, by Couperin-Mil
haud. .
“Suite in D Major" by Johann Se
bastion Bach. This number features

"Mozart Symphony in D Major”
(Koechel No. 133). This is one of
the earliest of Mozart's “Little”
symphonies and is not very well
known.

Special Church
Speaker Here
The Rev. Walter MacArthur of
the First Methodist church of Rose
burg will speak tonight at a meet
ing in the downtown methodist
church.
The Rev. Mr. MacArthur con
ducted a tour of 30 ministers
through Europe last summer,
studying post-war conditions. He
will speak on his European obser
vations and experiences, and show
some 400 slides he took while
abroad.
A potluck dinner will precede the
Rev. Mr. MacArthur’s speech at
6 p.m. Attendance is not limited
to members of the church.
NCP to Initiate 4
The National Collegiate Players,
national dramatic honorary, will in
itiate four new pledges Sunday ev
ening. Initiates are Pat Laxton,
Dick Rayburn, Louise Clouston, and
Marie DiLoreto. A formal banquet
at the Del Ray will follow initiation
at 6 p. m. in the Guild theatre.
