A University Duty With the start of the Community Chest drive today comes the question of student participation. Some feel that Univer . sity studnts should not be asked to contribute to Lane county charities since they are not permanent residents. . University students, nevertheless, expect to receive the benefits of the community. They seek help fkom downtown business interests on campus projects. They want aid on re storing the Mill Race; they expect assistance in solving the thirteenth street traffic problem. If students expect community help, they must in return show interest in the community which backs them. No one will be forced to contribute to the Community Chest; no set amount has been asked from campus partici * pants in the drive. However, the donations from the Univer sity will show that it is interested in the community and is . willing to do its share to help. D. D.
