    Campus Poll Indicates
(Continued frotn pagi one)
among University students. The
students tended almost to the
man to indicate strong support
for V. Edwin Johnson, U of O
grad and present Eugene council
man. One Eugetoe student asked,
■“Hawn’s campaign manager said,
A man would certainly be fool
ish if he believed the University
and Eugene weren’t interdepend
ent.’ IT would be interesting to
know what Hawn has said.”
The president of one of the cam
fpus living organizations said, “I
favor any candidate who favors the
University. It looks to me like
Johnson has the better chance of
those two to be elected so I am
throwing my support his way.”
One of the prewar students look
ed at the Mill Race and remarked,
"I remember when the ‘Race’ was
one of the biggest scenic and recre
ational attractions in Eugene. If
thS students and townspeople want
it back they are going to have to
support Ed Johnson. Johnson is
familiar with the ways of city gov
ernment, he really wants the Mill
Race, and he can expediate its re
turn."
“Oregon grads are in a better
position to workout University
city problems,” said one member
of the basketball squad.” I be
lieve we’ll have better luck with
Johnson as mayor than OSC
alum, Hawn.”
A campus politico express this
opinion.” “If Hawn, who has op
posed city-campus legislation so
often is elected the University just
as well sell its property to be used
, for the city incenerator site.”
