This Tackle Ready
STEVE DOTUR, regular left tackle on Jim Aiken’s Oregon football
team, will see plenty of offensive and defensive action today against
Southern Cal. Steve was a 409-minute ironman last season, and has
started every game this year.

As Faithful Fans Trek To Portland
The Univeisity of Oregon cam
pus and the city of Eugene will be
temporarily reduced to small-time
status this weekend, as several
thousand Webfoot fans desert the
old home in favor of the Rose city.
Today's game with TTSC in
Portland’s Multnomah stadium has
lured almost the entire flock of
.Ducks away. The migration began
last night, when a great portion of
the student body set sail for Port
land, intent on making a weekend
of.it.
Rallys, breakfasts, dances and
other functions in Portland provid
ed incentive for the early depart
ures, and reinforcements will con
tinue to pour in right up until the
opening gun today at 2 p. m.
Numerous fraternity and soror
dy houses are closing their doors
m anticipation of the mass deser
tion.
Automobiles, special buses, and
special ears on the scheduled trains
assured adequate transportation
for all who wished to see the game,
be they students, alumin or just
interested bystanders.

1350 yards gained in four games.
The Webfoots are second in rush
ing offense, with 1035 yards. USC
isn't among the first five in either
department.
Cravath is certain to call on
Dean Dill to throw Southern Cal's
passes. The slick quarterback has
completed 20 out of 28 passes to
date, to rank third in PCC pass
ing. Only Van Brocklin and Ray
Nagel of UCLA have completed
mpre passes.
Dill boasts the best passing per
centage, .714, but his tosses have
gained only 195 yards.
Southern Cal has two other good
passers behind Dill. Jim Powers
played a good game against Utah,
while George Murphy has been
rated as the best passer in the Tro
jan backfield.
Plenty of Depth
A host of powerful and speedy
backs round out the USC offense.
Don Doll, an all-coaster last year,
will probably start at lefthalf. One
of best all-around backs on the
Trojan team, Doll is a good break
away runner, an effective blocker,
and does a lot of SC kicking.
Art Battle will open at right half
for Southern Cal. Battle is a speedy
runner and a good pass receiver.
Jay Roundy is right behind Battle
for a starting position.
A Battle of Lines
The two lines will be evenly
matched today, with the Trojans
having a slight edge in bulk. Only
one man, Hachten at 195, weighs
under 200 in the Troy line.
Aiken will probably field the
same forward wall which has start
ed all year. Garza and Wilkins will
open on the ends, Steve Dotur and
Don Stanton will be at tackles, Ed
Chrobot and Meland are set at
guards, and Brad Ecklund holds
down the center spot.
On defense, Sam Nevills and
Bob Roberts see action at tackles,
Chet Daniels and Jim Berwick play
guard, and Ben Holcomb and John
son enter the backfield.
An estimated crowd of 30,000 is
expected to fill the stadium for to
day's game. All reserve seats were
sold out long before game time, and
the remaining general admission
seats will go on sale at 1:15 today.
Eugene radio station KASH and
KEX in Portland* are scheduled to
carry the play-by-play broadcast
of the game.

BLOND BRAD ECKLUND will hold down the middle of Oregon’s
line today against the Trojans from his center post. Ecklund, who
is seldom taken out ot a tough game, backs up the line on defense.
