Candidates Disclosed
(Continued from page one)
will have a say in the selection of
candidates with open primaries.”
Parties Formed by Platforms
Parties would be formed on the
basis of their platforms, under Hen
derson’s plan, and students would
file petitions to run with the party
whose platform they endorse.
A portion of the ASA platform
was announced by Marv Rasmus
sen, ASA number one candidate
who was introduced by Dick Sav
inar. All campus unit through stu
dent assemblies was the first point
mentioned by Rasmussen.
Return of Student Assemblies
‘‘Such assemblies would contrib
ute to the return of University
spirit,” Rasmussen averred. ‘‘They
would also aid in freshman orien
tation, restoring of traditions, and
would help to unite all students.”
Independents, cooperatives, and
fraternal organizations would hold
meetings for the purpose of getting
the voice of all students to reach
the administration, under the sec
ond plank in the Rasmussen plat
form.
Bill Hayward Memorial
“Because honoraries represent
the campus as a whole,” Rasmus
sen stated in his third point, “I
would appoint a committee to meet
with the presidents of all honor
aries to discuss the choosing of
members.”
Last point mentioned by Rasmus
sen was a memorial for “Colonel”
Bill Hayward—“something of a
tangible nature.”
“We have talked too much and
done too little,” reported Diana
Dye, USA candidate for ASUO po
sition number two, "in working for
student government.”
Miss Dye noted that now is the
time not only for thinkers, but for
thinkers and doers. She supported
in every way the principles of USA
