Freedom Train Due in Eugene On Saturday The struggle for freedom of vari ous countries of the world will be made more real to the people of Eugene Saturday with the arrival of the Freedom Train and its dis play of original historical docu ments. The train, on tour of the United States, is sponsored by the American Heritage Foundation. Included in the collection are 121 early documents of the United States and other countries and im portant documents throughout the years. The Magna Charta (1215), the Treaty of Paris, the United Na tions Charter, and original official manuscripts of the Eill of Rights, •Washington’s Farewell Address, the Constitution of the United States, the Declaration of Indepen dence, and other documents are in cluded. A touch of humor is included with a letter from the King of Siam, which offers a gift 'of ele phants to President Lincoln. Campus Dance Is Scheduled Oregon date-duos will be turning out tomorrow night to the all-cam pus dance in Gerlinger annex to help the Kwamas welcome the OSC Talons to the Oregon campus. The dance will be short silk and free to all students. Music will be furnished by Johnny Lusk and his orchestra. The dance highlights Kwama Talon weekend, which is to open Saturday noon with a luncheon in alumni hall for the two honoraries, followed by a softball game if weather permits. Entertainment at intermission time is being arranged by Mary Stadelman, dance chairman. All students are invited to attend the dance, which will be held from 9 to 12 Saturday night. Oregana Staff Tops Old Oregon In GPA Since publication staffs are comparing grades, the 1948 Ore gana is not to be skipped. After Ross Yates, yearbook editor, saw the Frazier-Moore contest men tioned in yesterday’s Emerald, he gathered the winter term grades of his staff. A 3.34 rolled out when they were averaged. This tops the Old Oregon 3.32 and buries the Em erald 3.20. When Bob Frazier and Bert M6ore bet a beer on their upper staffs’ grades, they forgot to consider the Oregana. So Old Oregon won the bet, but the Ore gana got those grades. Bridge Benefit Set Today at DG, SK A bridge benefit, open to all stu dents, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Delta Gamma and Sigma Kap pa houses. Mu Phi Epsilon, wom en's music honorary, is sponsoring the benefit and will donate proceeds to the music school for opera scores. Pinochle will be played at Delta Gamma, auction bridge at Sigma Kappa, and contract bridge at both houses. Admission is 60 cents. In charge of refreshments are Helen McFetridge and Virginia Roffe. Junior Man To Get Scholarship Applications for Skull and Dag ger’s $127.50 fee scholarship are still being accepted, but those in terested should act immediately, according to Malcolm MacGregor, treasurer of the honorary. The deadline is April 7. The scholarship, covering the academic year 1948-49, is available to junior men paying resident fees at the University. Applicants must have attended the University at least five consecutive terms prior to the spring of '48. Their cumula tive GPA over those terms must be 2.75 or better. A committee of two faculty members and three Skull and Dag ger men will judge the applications. The applications may be picked up at the educational activities office in Mac court and should be re turned to Dick Williams, adviser to the honorary, by 5 p.m. on the deadline date. The group will make plans for Mothers’ day and for scholarship awards.
