Athletic Director Leo Harris an j'.nounced yesterday that he would j like to interview any man not graduating before ’49 fall term for the purpose of hiring three junior - football managers for the ’48 sea son. In 1949, one of the three se lected will be named senior mana 'ger for the gridders. - For serving as junior,:assistant, „ Harris said that the three chosen j candidates will each receive a sweater, and- will be taken on two - of the football team’s road trips. .Next year the Oregon gridders will travel to Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Hen Hall Takes Girls Casaba Title j , In . a close hard fought game, Hendricks hall defeated University j house by the narrow margin of 25 to 23 to win the 1948 Women’s In tramural Basketball championship. After trailing University house the whole game, with a halftime score of 12 to 8, Hendricks pulled «p and ahead in the final minutes of the game. University house was playing under a handicap, as two of its top players, Unis Peterson and Virginia Thompson were out of ac tion, both with sprained ankles. Scoring was practically a one- j -girl monopoly on both teams. Diane Hoeck threw in 18 points for Hen dricks, and Harriette Minot made 31 of University's 23 points. Cali for Netmen All varsity tennis players who i .have not registered are request __ ed to sign up with Kermit Smith in Room 10 Fenton hall by Mon TT Seattle, Moscow, Portland, and 4nn Arbor. The senior manager makes all of the road jaunts. To select which of the three, junior candidates will make each trip, an informal drawing will be held. Harris stated that he would be glad' to talk to anyone at his office in McArthur court, at any time during the day. To select the three junior managers, tryouts will be held among the candidates during spring football practice which starts April 2. The reason for innovating such a plan is to assure the football team of an experienced manager each season, a position which is highly vital and necessary to a grid squad. Redhead Ready Cliff Crandall, number one play maker on Slats Gill’s speedy hoop quintet, has been rated as tho best ball-handler in th(? Northern Division. The tricky redhead will lead his Corvallis mates in tonight’s title-deciding game with Oregon.
