Suggested Bill Will Affect Gl Subsistence WASHINGTON, Feb. 3—(UP)— The house today unexpectedly shelved other business and took up legislation to increase the bene fits for veterans who are studying under the GI bill of rights. Chair man Edith Nourse Rogers, It., Mass., of the house veterans com mittee moved to suspend regular procedures and consider the legis lation. The first bill would affect veterans training under an ap prenticeship program. A veteran in training may now receive a total income of $175 a month if he is still single and $200 if he has depen dents. The new proposal would al low him $250 when single, $325 with one dependent and $350 for more than one dependent. Another measure on the program would in crease subsistence payments to veterans enrolled in regular schools. This would authorize monthly payments of $75 to single veterans, $105 to veterans with one dependent and $120 to veterans with more than one dependent. Feb. 7 Set at Co-op For Vets' Deadline February 7 is the deadline for purchasing veteran's books arn^ supplies under the G. I. bill, accord ing to Miss Ida Zinser, Co-op man ager.
