Ivy Yearns For Pete,
Palpitates Oyer Igor
By Betty Ann Stevens
Fastidious Ivy Butterphlop still is vacillating about a date
to the Senior ball. She yearns for a date with the tintinabu
lating Peter B. Killed, but he remains pinned. Schmoe has a
new model-A, but the dashboard lights up in neon with a
green “nope” and a Vermillion “yessiree, bub.”
Ivy’s just palpitating about Igor. However, he too has his
draw-back. It seems that Igor’s mother (an eighth cousin o£
Ward Christensen) married a second cousin, which, according
to a Mendelian old wive’s tale, isn’t very good. As a result,
they had offspring, Igor’s brothers, Rimski and Coughtail.
This is not an infalible rule. As was inevitable, Rimski was
drowned in a kraut barrel and Coughtail died from gangrenous
hang-nails, brought on by a recuring attack of the seven-year
itch. Igor, unfortunate victim of heredity, is on the dean’s list.

Ruby Bienert, Theta Sigma Phi’s “Miss Vogue” and a hap
pier victim of heredity, flipped her best set last week. The
girl received a letter from Foote, Cone, and Belding com
mending her lovely natural smile, which the Pepsodc'nt people
want her to scrub with their product in a big. blurby, foaming
endorsement. “At Oregon, Ruby Bienert brushes her teeth.”

“These house dances,” says Susie Huffaker, Gamma Phi
grad student, “sometimes produce strange by-products.” One
of the girls wore an Injun costume replete with false, waist
length hanks of hair to a pow-wow down on the mud-race. At
curfew time she weaved in, so sleepy that she couldn't see
what she was doing, and spent two befuddled hours trying
to put up the ersatz braids on metal curlers.

Drat these chains.
department head or dean wants his graduate to master, and
must also fulfill the general specifications of 36 hours in his
major. Delinquency in either obligation may prevent gradua
tion. The student graduates only on the recommendation of
that dean or department head, and hence, the records must
he clear within the department as well as with the registrar's
office.
Further specifications for graduation include, of course,
a 2-point minimum cumulative, and residence of at least 45
hours (in most cases the last 45).
\ arious restrictions, including rulings on correspondence
study, dentistry, law and medicine, applied music, and no
grade courses, may occasionally stand in the way of gradua
tion. Specifications in these stipulations may be found on
page 51 of the 19-17-48 catalog, obtainable iir the registrar’s
office in Emerald hall for 25 cents.
because no dexographs indicating individual summaries
can be compiled until June—and then it's to late—prospective
graduates with reason to doubt their eligibility for ceremonies
should go voluntarily to the records counter of the registrar's
office to verify or clarify their positions.
Reminding such persons that graduation is a personal ob
ligation as well as a University one. Air. Constance advises
a thorough upper division check by each senior.

Now and again I will get into a
hassel over who is doing the better
job on the waxings of the week. It
might be Columbia, Capital, or
one of the 7692 odd labels that have j
been creeping out of the varnish
factories since January 1. (When I
say varnish I mean, Oh that sur
face !).
Of course there are bound to be
just oodles of little disagreements,
so let’s not be secretive about
these petty (that word tends to
make my eyes pop) things. Voice
your agreements or disagreements
in epistle form to-Porter, 1198 Wil
lamette S't., Eugene. I have a brand
new round file just filled to the
brim with anxiety waiting to be re
plenished with your opinions, and,
if I am any judge of my character
(who has a better right to be), we
can look forward to a gloriously
disagreeable winter.
I hope to give pin-point studies
of all the favorites in the record
field, along with their latest en
deavors, which of course will in
clude MEL TORME. Speaking
about atmospheric confusion gives
me an idea—why don’t we start a
collection to buy Buddy Clark a
toupee ? Bing Crosby doesn’t care
—I think he owns at hat factory!
Also look for a few prognostica
tions on new music and up and •
coming artists (excluding A1 Jol
son of course). Prognastication
means “who are you buying your'
records from, bud?”

i begin to know me less I thought we 1
might have an “all time great'’
paragraph. You, in your respective >
houses, dormitories, tents, or what -
have you, could drop me the selec- *
tion. either through collective vot
ing or personal choice. Then we
could devote a few chummy words
to your opinions. This can be done
only if time permits—between Tay- *
lors and The College Side. The only
satisfaction you will receive for j
your time and effort is not to re
ceive the cast-off prizes from ■
"Truth or Consequences.”
The next pressing to look for >
that will leave as fast as it came
is, “I’m Looking Over a Four-Leaf (
Clover,” (MGM 10119) ART MOO
NEY and ensemble—will have re
view for you next week.
My head is clearing so must sign -
“LA FINIS” to this.
And when I say, remember the
MARCH OF DIMES I mean
DON'T FORGET it. j
It's a GRAVE suitation when you ■
can't purchase your favorite wax
