Varied Slate of Entertainment To Honor KOAC's 25th Birthdav The Eugene studios of state sta _ion KOAC will mark that station’s 25th year in operation Sunday with -n hour-long variety broadcast at 2 ^rfn. Featuring contributions from the finest talent in the Uni versity, the broadcast will help KOAC to honor its founders and former staff members on its sil ver jubilee year. The entire pro gram is produced and directed by John MacDonald, and will be an nounced by Ken Lomax. Opening the University show will be Bob Weber, who will play two of his original piano compositions, “Twilight Blues” and “Christmas Lullaby.” Adele "Sugar” Collinson will follow, singing two numbers in her takeoff of the Dorothy Shay style. Sally Peabody, lyric soprano from the school of music, will sing the aria, “Deh Vieni Non Tardar,” from the opera "Marriage of Figa ro” by Mozart. She will be accom panied by Pianist William Horni broolc, whose later solo will be “In the Nignt,” by Schumann. A chorus of 67 voices, composed of students from the Springfield junior high school and voice stu dents from the University school of music, will continue the Jubilee . hour with a program of carols and ' songs of celebration. Under the di rection of Miss Maude Garnett, as sociate professor in charge of pub lic school music, the chorus will sing "Hello Song,’’ “Singing Along Together,” "Sing When You are Happy,” "Upon a Housetop,” "The First Noel,” and "Land of the Em pire Builders—State of Oregon Song.” Featured soloist with the chorus will be Jim Kays, Lyric <tenor, from the school of music. Dr. Roy C. McCall, newly-ap pointed head of the University . speech - drama - radio department, will be interviewed by Paul Ryman .during tne Jubilee hour. The inter view was recorded on the depart ment's wide-tape recorder by Ry •man, a member of the radio work shop staff. „ Following the interview will be “A Morality Play for the Leisured .Class,” a short radio drama pre sented by the University radio workshop players. The morality '•play is unique in that its cast will include only two players, Bob Lit ten and Warren Dobbin. i. ' Highlights from the early history .f the University of Oregon, utiliz '<■ —---— Student Sunday Forum Speaker The final Westminster forum for the fall term will feature student explorer Willis Caldwell and his - "Jared movies, according to Clell Conrad, Westminster president. Caldwell, a senior in the school , of business administration, took part in several expeditions into un explored areas of Peru, taking thousands of feet of motion picture film, and collecting scientific data. Caldwell will show two reels on his unsuccessful attempt to ascend * Mt. Huascaran, a 22,180 foot peak in the Peruvian Andes. The program will begin at 6:30 Sunday night at Westminster house. All students and faculty members are invited. Marines Recruit During Next Week| Master Sergeants R. W. Solo . mon, J.S. Kipp, and Staff Sergeant S.B. Swanson, of the Portland Marine recruiting office will be in Eugene on the 8-9-10 of December. They will be at the Post Office, • and anyone interested may receive (.information concerning the Marine corps. at ing the current "Campus Head lines" show, will conclude the Ju bilee broadcast from Eugene. Both narration and drama will be used in this program. Radio workshop' players who will appear in the cast j are Bob Litten, Warren Dobbin, | Jack Puffenbarger, James Fulton, Mary Esther Brock, Jens Jenson, and Gene Deutschman. Joining in the Sunday salute to the station KOAC will be Oregon radio stations KEX, KGW, KUGFi, and KOIN. The Corvallis transmit ter will be on the air for a full hour broadcasting schedule on Sunday to carry these programs. f E M.
