Edwin Espy, national executive secretary of the student YMCA, is scheduled to speak to various student groups Wednesday, celebrating the founding of the stu dent Christian organization. Espy has recently returned from a series of youth conferences in Europe. An open meeting Wednesday night at 7:30 in Gerlinger hall will also serve as the occasion for the UO Professors To Attend Meet Discussions by two University of Oregon professors will highlight the November 22 program of the two-day regional conference of the Northwest Pacific chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French to be held on the campus. Pierre Van Rysselberghe, pro fessor of chemistry and a native of Belgium, will speak on “Science and Foreign Language.’’ “The Place of modern Foreign Languages in the Secondary Edu cation Curriculum” titles the talk to be given by Paul B. Jacobson, dean of the school of education. Both addresses are set for 3 p.m., Friday, November 22, at alumni hall, Gerlinger. David M. Dougher ty, head of the foreign language department, is in charge of the program. installation of Jack Merner as the new executive secretary of the campus YMCA, according to Presi dent Dave Mortimer. Speaks at Dinner Espy is also, speaking to a joint YM and YW cabinet meeting at 4 p.m. and at a dinner meeting of the YMCA advisory board and cabinet. A resident of New York, Espy is combining a visit to college cam puses in the Pacific Northwest with a visit to his family home in Oysterville, Washington. He was born in Portland. Espy holds de grees from the University of Red lands and the Union Theological seminary in New York and did ad vanced study at the universities of Munich, Tubingen, and Heidelberg, Germany. Served as Alliance Secretary He was the' general secretary of the student volunteer movement and served as secretary of the first Conference of Christian Youth in Amsterdam in 1939. Anderson, direc tor of the Salem youth center, will be the featured speaker at the In tervarsity Christian fellowship meeting in the dining room of John Straub hall tonight at 7 p.m. Anderson, who attended Dallas Theological seminary, was former ly the director of Foreign Missions fellowship, a group inaugurated to promote world-wide missionary consciousness, which he organized while enrolled at Wheaton college. The organization has since been fused into the activities of Inter varsity International, under whose jurisdiction it is at present.
