Hoopers Roll Through First Practice Tilts The Oregon varsity basketball squad held its first scrimmage yes terday afternoon, with the practice session divided into six 20-minute games, as the 30-odd candidates were divided into five-man groups. Coach John Warren’s first quint composed of Marv Rasmussen, Jim Bartelt, Bob Amacher, Stan Wil liamson and A1 Popick showed good early-season form with Rasmussen and Williamson hitting the bucket consistently. Rog Wiley, first in line for the starting center berth, spent the practice officiating the contests. In the second group, Warren used Roger Mockford, Lynn Hamilton, Archie Gasek, Bob Kehrli, Bob La vey, and Kenny Seeborg. The latter two men, at guards, performed creditably, as Lavey led the down floor dashes, while Seeborg con nected for three baskets. Wiry Dick Unis, another guard candidate, served notice that he was going to be right in the thick of the fight for a team position, as he cut loose with several speed sprints for tallies.
