Rummage Sale
Rummage is being sold by the
YWCA advisory board at the Ma
sonic temple today in order to gain
additional funds for the budget, ac
cording to service committee chair
man, Velma Snelstrom.
Shirley Anderson was in charge
of contacting students to assist
with the sale, publicity was han
dled by Helen Gatewood and Mary
Stadelman and posters were made
by Jean Armstrong and Barbara
Wheat.
The service committee is con
ducting a survey of the number of
veterans’ wives who need help in
caring for their children while they
attend classes. The project is to
begin winter term with a nursery
at the Fairmount Presbyterian
church, 15th and Villard, from 9 to
12 a.m. each school day. Pat Helge
son, chairman of the nursery, urges
any mothers who would like to take
advantage of the plan to contact
the YWCA.
This term under the leadership
of Hollis Anne Hackley, the service
committee is caring for the children
of the War Brides club which meets
in downtown Eugene every second
■Tuesday.
Plans are also being made for Y
members to assist the city public
health nurse with office work at
least two afternoons a week.

The weather bureau today ordered
small craft storm warnings along
the coast from Monterey to Cres
cent City as rains swept toward
northern California. The small
craft warning''was in effect to 9
p.m. tonight, with southerly winds
of 25 to 35 miles an hour expected.
Moderate precipitation over the
northern California coast was fore
cast by the bureau, with heavy
rains in the extreme north portion
of the state. Skies were expected
to clear in the extreme north by
tonight and by tomorrow in the
southern portions.
