Faculty Drive For SU Funds Aimed at $5000 With sights set at 3S3000 for con tributions, the University staff Student Union campaign got un derway Tuesday evening, Dean Carl Onthank, general secretary for the drive, reported Thursday. The solicitations for funds will be conducted only among faculty and staff members of the University. Under the chairmanship of Dr. E. L. Johnson, head of the political science department, the campaign committee will attempt to reach their quota by Tuesday, May 20, but some contributions are expect ed to come in after the deadline. Solicitors Appointed Solicitors for the campaign staff were appointed at a committee j meeting held Tuesday evening held 1 in the lounge room of Gerlinger hall. I The campaign solicitors and de partments to be covered are: li brary and art museum: R. C. Swank, and Elizabeth Kindly; j business administration depart- j ment: D. D. Gage. Physics, math and engineering departments will be covered by Edwin G. Ebbig hausen; biology department: Arn old Soderwall; law: C. G. Howard. Departments Covered The architecture and allied arts department will be covered by W. S. Baldinger and Brownell Frasier; English department: Robert D. Horn and W. J. Stevens; language department: Carl Johnson and L. O. Wright; municipal research and service department: Jean Hannay; the geology, geography and an thropology departments will be covered by Lloyd W. Staples; psy chology: Lester Beck; Chapman hall (except Co-op) will be cov ered by Hoyt Trowbridge; physical education department: Paul Wash Ke ana jh. h. Jrioyman; registrar and graduate offices: C. L. Con stance. The journalism, the press and multigraph departments will be solicited by Warren Price. The dean of women and the bouse mothers will be contacted by Marjorie Cunningham. The chemistry department will be cov ered' by D. F. Swinehart; the ex tension division: Mozelle Hair; alumni and editor’s office: Lester E. Anderson. Offices Contribute The ASUO and the athletics de partment will be covered by Dick Williams. The business office, phone exchange and the photog raphy bureau will be solicited by Lulu Bergstrom; the chancellor, board and the president’s offices will be covered by E. M. Pallett. The dean of men’s office will be asked to contribute by Glen Swee ney; the dormitories: Mrs. Bertha Fulwiler; the health service; Mar ian Hays Miller; the music depart ment: Donald' Allton; the social science department: Andrew Fish, Ed Robbins; physical plants: Louie Jensen, Allen Osborne, Les Goheen and Mrs. Florence Garnett. Political Science Club To Hear Reed Man Professor Charles McKinley of the Reed college faculty will speak to the Political Science club on Fri day, May 16 at 7:30, at the YWCA hut. Professor McKinley will speak on “The Separation of Powers,” dealing with the division of the gov ernment. All students are welcome to at tend the meeting. H road wav To all prices add Tax Luncheon Set May 17 “Lifetime Exposure, Graduation is not enough,’’ is the title of the ad dress Mrs. Edmunson Norton, re gional secretary of the YWCA, will make to the annual junior-senior luncheon sponsored by the YWCA at the Eugene hotel, 12:30 Saturday, May 17. Dedo Misley. ticket chairman, has advised that junior women pur chase their tickets and those for the seniors as soon as possible from their houe representatives or at the YWCA. It is traditional for the seniors to be invited by juniors. Ad mission is 85 cents. All money from sales is to be turned into the Chi Omega house by Thursday night. According to Anne Burgess, pro gram chairman, the invocation will be given by Beryl Howard, worship chairman of the Y, and that short speeches will also be given by Bjorg Hansen, president, and Marjory [ Skordahl, past president of the Y. | Background music is to be fur j nished by Mary Margaret Dundore I at the piano. I Mrs. Norton is a past president of the University YWCA and has served as secretary at the Univer sity of California and the Univer sity of Oregon Y’s.
