"THE 13TH HOUR" |
SAN FRANCISCO, May 12 (AP)
—The five-weeks-old telephone
strike in the far west ended Mon
day, to all practical purposes, as
the last of the important telephone
unions ratified- settlement terms.
Following an earlier back-'to
work vote by the CIO American
Communications association, the
United Brotherhood of Telephone
Workers late in the day ratified a
contract offered by the five-state
Pacific Telephone & Telegraph
company and prepared to man their
jobs at once.
Only the National Federation of
Telephone Workers remained on
strike, but in northern California
and Nevada and much of the rest of
the Pacific coast the union had little
or no representation.
Another joint meeting between
the company and the NFTW was
scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday,
federal conciliators announced.

The former vice president said

Democratic-Farmer Labor party of
Minnesota and the New Republic,
of which he is editor, Wallace said
that in the 20’s he told farmers they

corporate form of organization
gives to industry.”
