Dick Williams, educational activ ities manager, will leave the cam pus April 7 to attend a conference of the Association of Student Un ions at the University of Illinois April 10 to 12, and the board au thorized a budget to defray the cost of the trip. Williams will visit stu dent unions at the University of In diana, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Minnesota to obtain factual information regard ing the functions and management of student unions. It was deemed advisable by the board that student funds in the educational activities treasury be appropriated for aiding such endeavors designed to expe dite the construction and insure the efficiency of the Erb Memorial building. The $92,000 budget for the fiscal year 1947-48 was approved by the board. Most important changes in clude: increased income from the Student Director due to the price increase from 25 cents to 30 cents; discontinuance of the Ore nter; appropriation of funds for minor all-campus dances; increased budgets for forensics, Emerald pho tography and engraving, student directory, lectures, educational movies, the band, orchestra, ad ministration, the welcome book, choral union, and the special sum mer edition of the Emerald. Editors and business managers of next year’s Emerald and Ore gana will be selected at the next meeting of the educational activi ties board, April 23. Petiitons for these positions must be submitted to Dick Williams before noon, April 19. CAMPUS CALENDAR University chess club will meet tonight at 7 o’clock in 207 Com merce. Christian .
