The win brought the Lemon and ('.reen to within a halt-game of third place, as the WSC Cougars dumped the Washington Huskies 54-38. With all four teams in action again tonight, the Ducks stand an ex cellent chance to edge the Huskies out of the third spot. Malcolm MacGregor Given Crown, Dunking As King of Hearts at Annual Valentine Dance King of Hearts Malcolm MacGregor, who was presented with his crown and scepter during half time at the Oregon-Idaho game, ended his royal reign last night with an inglorious dunking on the Pi Phi lawn. In traditional Pleart Hop fashion, the King re ceived his dunking at the hands of Knaves Paul Pier n son and Marty Pond, under the direction of Marv Rasmussen and the Order of the "O.” MacGregor, member of Yeomen, was crowned by Marge Skordahl, president of the YWCA, sponsor of the progressive dance held each Valentine’s day. She was aided by the coronation committee which included Beverly Pitman, Mary Margaret Jones, Mar guerite Johns, Mildred Chetty, and Donna Mae Lyons. Route of the dance last night started at Susan Campbell hall, and progressed to*Alpha Chi Omega, Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, and Pi Beta Phi. The theme was ‘'The Story of Two Silhouettes,” which traced the romance of a college boy and a coed from their first meeting to their marriage. Decorations committee was under the direction of Mary McQueen. Other finalists, who were voted upon by Oregon coeds purchasing tickets to the affair were: Bill Ab bey, Jack Burris, and Bob Barrett. Balloting was handled by Carolyn Jenks. 9 Refreshments, including heart-shaped cookies, punch, and ice cream slices, were handled by the re freshment committee under the direction of Shirley Lukins. Joan Williarhs, sophomore in liberal arts, was gen eral chairman of the event. Mrs. Holcomb Picked To Be Official Hostess The Oregon Dads’ gates opened wide this morning to greet more than 500 dads attending the week end's festivities on the University campus. The Dads' gates have traditionally welcomed the dads every year since they were built in 1939. Official hostess for this year’s celebration, the twentieth annual weekend for dads, will be Mrs. Jerry Holcomb, wife of Ben Hol comb, freshman in physical edu cation. She will be presented at a special program during the Ore gon-Idaho basketball game to night in McArthur court and will attend other official functions. Other entertainment planned for the dads .includes luncheons, meet ings, and open houses. Vesper services and church services will also salute the dads. Official welcome to the Univer sity will be extended by Thomas F. Gunn, president of the Oregon Dads club, Chancellor Paul C. Packer, and football coach Jim Aiken at luncheon today in John Straub hall. Winners of the Dads’ day con tests and their prizes will be an nounced in Tuesday’s Emerald. Contests have included signs, clean-up, participation, and edi torials. Vesper Service Planned For Sunday Afternoon A vesper service will be held by the University Religious council tomorrow at 4 p. m. in the music school auditorium. The University Singers, under the direction of Professor Donald Allton, will pre sent “Alleluia,” by Thompson and “Chericim Song,” by Rachmani noff. Triva Rice, freshman in music, will sing “Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled,” by Speaks, and Phillip Green, freshman in music, will sing “Ave Maria,” by Schubert. Organist will be Elwin Myrick, who will present "Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” by Brahms, and a prelude and post lude. The second period started out little better, though the starting five of Ed Dick and Dick Wilkins at forwards, Ken Hays at center, and Stan Williamson and Bob La vey at guards did run the count up to 48-26 at the 5:34 mark. It was at this point that Coach Hobson waved his arm, and five new Webfoots entered the game— the celebrated Vertebrates with Bob Wren and Roy Seeborg at for wards, George Bray at center, and A1 Popick and Reedy Berg i a semi-ringer) at guards.
